This customer-facing senior design role supports business development, leads pre-sales creative and technical design, and provides ongoing post-sales project support. The Creative Technologist collaborates with internal sales teams, customers, creative partners, architects, consultants, and project delivery teams to develop concepts, define functional systems, guide planning and budgeting, and carry design intent through implementation. Responsibilities include creating experience narratives, design presentations, system descriptions, block flow diagrams, labor estimates, logistical considerations, and equipment lists for customer proposals.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provide creative technology and experiential design leadership for XTG, customers, and project partners.
- Partner with the XTG Business Development team to build relationships with Creative Technologists, creative agencies, architects, consultants, fabricators, and technology partners internationally.
- Work with the XTG Director of Strategic Partnerships to track new contacts and nurture existing partner relationships.
- Translate customer requirements, brand objectives, and experience narratives into creative visioning presentations, prototypes, and functional system designs.
- Collaborate within multidisciplinary design teams to create high-quality, software-driven media systems that support the approved experience concept and functional requirements.
- Participate in design reviews, evaluate feedback, and incorporate approved changes into concepts, prototypes, and system designs.
- Define and advise on real-time media pipeline architecture to support reliable performance, scalability, and integration across experiential systems.
- Evaluate and recommend tools, platforms, and techniques for experimental projects based on creative goals, technical feasibility, and production requirements.
- Integrate third-party APIs to create responsive, data-driven experiences that connect external information and services with interactive media systems.
- Integrate content management systems that enable clients to control, update, and operate media experiences within defined design and technical parameters.
- Communicate experience concepts and design intent through hand sketches, electronic drawings, renderings, diagrams, outlines, storyboards, prototypes, and narratives.
- Develop conceptual system architecture, functional narratives, block diagrams, ROM inputs, and basis-of-design information, working with assigned Design Engineers and Project Engineers to develop detailed engineering documentation and final equipment lists.
- Review preconstruction designs and documentation.
- Support technical design pricing and identify logistical challenges.
- Generate functional system descriptions and block diagrams.
- Provide technical design support to project installation teams when needed.
- Serve as customer liaison for engineering inquiries.
- Meet with vendors and prospective vendors to evaluate products and identify new creative technologies.
- Provide post-sales design consultation to preserve the approved experience concept and functional intent throughout engineering, fabrication, installation, programming, commissioning, and handoff.
- Review Design Engineer deliverables for alignment with the approved experience concept, software architecture, interaction requirements, and functional design intent.
- Travel to project sites is required.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
