Job description

The Senior Digital Marketing Specialist, Web and SEO/GEO leads website strategy, search visibility and AI brand visibility initiatives for food and beverage-focused clients. This role owns the planning, execution and optimization of website content and landing page experiences, with a strong focus on traditional Search Engine Optimization (SEO), Generative Engine Optimization (GEO), user experience, content performance and measurable business impact. This role partners closely with creative and web development teams to translate client goals into effective website experiences that drive conversion, content frameworks and ongoing optimizations. The Senior Digital Marketing Specialist also helps advance the agency’s approach to AI search visibility by monitoring emerging GEO best practices, evaluating tools and workflows, and integrating AI visibility considerations into broader client campaigns across paid, organic, social, influencer, email and search channels.


Duties:

  • Own website strategy, content architecture and optimizations for clients, including recommendations for new pages, content refreshes, landing pages, blog content, resource hubs and more.
  • Lead website projects and campaigns, adhering to the client’s brand & messaging guidelines, industry best practices, and broader campaign objectives, and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to support a cohesive, omnichannel approach.
  • Work closely with internal creative teams to design website mockups and supporting assets aligned with client brand guidelines and campaign objectives.
  • Develop detailed landing page, blog and resource hub outlines that incorporate SEO, GEO, audience intent, campaign messaging and conversion goals to guide copywriting.
  • Coordinate website page-build execution with web development team and internal stakeholders, including timelines, functionality requirements, QA testing, tracking needs, launch checklists and post-launch optimization.
  • Conduct client and competitor website and brand visibility audits, identifying content gaps and opportunities for clients to develop unique, valuable content and reach high-quality audiences.
  • Develop GEO/AI search visibility frameworks, including prompt research and tracking, AI search audits, topic cluster recommendations, designed to improve brand presence in AI-generated responses.
  • Lead on-page and technical SEO recommendations, including metadata, heading structure, internal linking, schema markup, indexing considerations, redirects, page speed, Core Web Vitals and accessibility best practices.
  • Serve as the agency’s internal subject matter expert for GEO and AI search visibility, monitoring emerging best practices, LLM interface changes, AI search tools, algorithm updates and implications for client strategy.
  • Research and scope plugins, tools, and other programs to enhance website functionality, user experience, and support behavioral testing.
  • Develop and execute data-driven paid search strategies aligned with the client’s brand voice, target audience, and business goals.
  • Develop, manage, and report on paid search campaign budgets, allocating resources effectively to achieve brand goals.
  • Define website goals and KPIs, tagging needs, conversion events, UTM structures and reporting dashboards for clients.
  • Build client reporting dashboards and translate insights into actionable optimization recommendations.
  • Identify opportunities to connect website content with broader campaign tactics, including paid search, paid social, influencer, email, and organic social.
  • Apply practical use of AI to day-to-day tasks, consistently seeking opportunities to streamline processes using internal agents and approved agency tools.
  • Coach and mentor junior team members through daily feedback and other professional development opportunities.
  • Assist with internal guidance to the team to ensure projects are strategically aligned with the client’s expectations and executed within budget and timeline.


Skills/Qualifications:

  • 3-5 years of experience in website strategy, content development, and SEO/GEO with a proven track record of success in driving organic and AI search visibility, and website engagement and conversion growth.
  • Intermediate level knowledge of WordPress or a similar website CMS platform.
  • Intermediate level knowledge of SEO/GEO research tools (Semrush, Ahrefs, Google Search Console, Answer the Public, and similar platforms).
  • Ability to conduct AI search prompt and keyword research for organic and paid initiatives and apply to broader campaign initiatives.
  • Proven experience developing and implementing data-driven content marketing strategies aligned with business objectives, audience needs and campaign goals.
  • Proven success in optimizing website content for SEO/GEO best practices and improving visibility through traditional and AI-driven search experiences.
  • Proven experience with Google Marketing Suite (Tag Manager, Search Console, GA4, Google Ads, Data Studio (formerly Looker) is a must.
  • Ability to analyze website, SEO/GEO and paid search campaign data, identify trends, and translate insights into actionable strategies that show measurable growth.
  • Working knowledge of technical SEO best practices, including metadata, schema markup, heading structure, internal linking, Core Web Vitals and accessibility.
  • Experience working with web development teams to develop new websites, templates, and functionality.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate website, SEO/GEO, analytics into clear guidance for client partners.
  • Strong understanding of brand voice, messaging and content strategy, with the ability to apply client positioning across website and campaign content.
  • Design thinking mindset and problem-solving skills with a deep focus on the user journey and website experience.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills with the ability to influence and inspire clients, stakeholders, and team members.
  • Intermediate understanding of how website strategy, SEO/GEO, paid search, social media, influencer, and email work together within integrated digital marketing campaigns.
  • Strong project management skills, with experience managing multiple projects, priorities, timelines and stakeholders in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strategic thinking, vision building, and the ability to motivate and guide others.
  • Understanding of building and managing strong relationships with cross-functional teams and management.
  • A positive, collaborative, can-do attitude.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks effectively.
  • Strong attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy.
  • Previous marketing agency experience and food and beverage consumer packaged goods industry experience preferred.
