We are seeking a skilled individual with hands-on experience developing for Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020 and 2024. The role focuses on implementing aircraft systems and logic using the MSFS SDK, with particular emphasis on XML/RPN behaviors, configuration files, and well-structured package development.
You will work closely with project leads, flight model designers and artists to bring aircraft systems, animations, and interactions to life in a performant, SDK-compliant, and maintainable way.

📝 Work Description

As an XML Programmer, you will be responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining aircraft systems and logic for Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020 and 2024. Your work will focus on building reliable, performant, and SDK-compliant systems using XML and RPN, ensuring aircraft behave realistically and interact seamlessly within the simulator.

You will collaborate closely with project leads, flight model designers, and artists to bring aircraft systems, animations, and interactions to life, balancing technical accuracy, maintainability, and performance across both sim platforms.

  • Develop and maintain aircraft systems using MSFS SDK XML and RPN logic
  • Implement and manage Behaviors, Templates, and Components within the MSFS framework
  • Edit, configure, and maintain MSFS CFG files
  • Tune aircraft systems, avionics, and interactions through CFG and XML integration
  • Create, structure, and maintain MSFS package sources (SimObjects, ModelBehaviors, Panels, etc.)
  • Ensure compatibility across MSFS 2020 and MSFS 2024 projects
  • Debug, optimise, and refine existing systems for stability, realism, and performance
  • Follow MSFS SDK best practices to support future updates and modular development


 Requirements

  • Solid knowledge of XML and RPN, specifically within the MSFS SDK
  • Strong experience working with MSFS Behaviors (animations, logic, interactions)
  • Ability to edit and manage aircraft configuration files (aircraft.cfg, systems.cfg, panel.cfg)
  • Ability to create, organise, and maintain MSFS package sources correctly
  • Good understanding of MSFS project structure and build workflow
  • Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills


💪 Preferred Qualifications & Traits

  • Experience with FS24 modular package architecture
  • Understanding of creating and maintaining modular packages for MSFS 2024
  • Experience with complex aircraft systems (electrical, fuel, avionics, etc.)
  • Familiarity with gauges, templates, macros, and reusable SDK components
  • Prior released MSFS aircraft or mods
