Job description

Job title: Director of Human Resources

Reports to: CEO

FLSA Classification: Volunteer Position


Job purpose    

Oversee all human resources duties, company policies, budgets and volunteer relations. Review and update guidebooks frequently.


Duties and responsibilities

  1. Work directly with the CEO to develop and manage the organization’s culture.
  2. Implementation and update workflows in our HR system.
  3. Work closely with the CEO and Department Directors to create and update volunteer requirements and descriptions for all volunteer positions.
  4. Oversee the recruiting and onboarding process.
  5. Review annual evaluations of interns and volunteers.
  6. Handle volunteer relations, mediate conflict, and review complaints.
  7. Work closely with Department Directors to perform and update the on-boarding process for new interns and volunteers
  8. Guide HR Assistant in the preparation, updates and recommendation of policies and procedures. Communicate these changes with Directors and Executives, as well as all interns and volunteers, to ensure understanding and compliance. 
  9. Review budget with CFO and evaluate cost of contract workers and reimbursements when creating volunteer position descriptions and prior to signing contracts.  
  10. Ensure volunteers, interns, and contracted workers are fulfilling their roles and utilizing their skills appropriately to represent Linc Worldwide and promote the organization’s mission and goals.
  11. Work closely with Department Directors and executives to carry out disciplinary and termination processes/procedures for volunteers and/or interns that do not adequately meet expectations or fulfill their role.  Obtain guidance from an Attorney as needed.
  12. Work closely with the Attorney and CFO to ensure financial operations, processes and procedures comply with federal and state laws regarding payments and reimbursements for BOD, volunteers and contractors, with special attention to taxes (1099 forms).
  13. Work with the Volunteer Coordinator to schedule and conduct training programs, evaluate the effectiveness of training programs, and maintain records of volunteers’ participation in training and development programs.
  14. Work closely with the International Development Department and Attorney to ensure proper documents are gathered and maintained for volunteer trips. Create safety guidelines for volunteer trips, maintain incident records, and work closely with the Trip Coordinator to make changes to processes and procedures to maintain safety on volunteer trips.
  15. Understand how to use LINC’s selected software/CRM, manage, track and review volunteer information in this software.
  16. Work with the HR and Marketing teams and CRM specialist to create and implement appropriate forms on our website for volunteers and interns to apply/manage volunteer opportunities. 


Qualifications

  • Subject to background check


Education and Experience

    • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent role and responsibilities.
    • 6+ years of increasing experience in Human Resources.
    • 3+ years in a leadership/management role


    Certifications    

    • Professional in Human Resources Management

    • Willingness to put in more working hours, even at odd times.
    • The majority of work for this role is remote, however face-to-face tasks/meetings may be required at times


    Physical requirements

    • This position operates in a remote office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.
