Job description

Title: Intern

Reports to: Project Manager

Position Classification: Unpaid Internship

Date: Fall 2026 / Spring 2027


Purpose

Obtain knowledge of nonprofit management and administrative duties, while assisting with day to day activities, procedures, fundraising efforts, and project focused tasks. Use personal knowledge, skills and experiences to improve the organization and spread LINC’s mission outreach. 


Duties and responsibilities

  1. Review organization’s handbook and policies
  2. Work directly with CORE Volunteers to understand and assist with daily operations 
  3. Work with Event Planning Committee to contact businesses and individuals for financial and in-kind donations for 2027 fundraiser events (5k race and golf outing)
  4. Learn organization’s CRM features and assist Account Manager to record donations and update donors' profiles
    1. Research companies that match employee donations and fundraise for nonprofits
    2. Assist with Donor Relations - call to thank donors and/or send handwritten cards 
    3. Pull reports from CRM to track analytics of email marketing and direct mail
  5. Work with our Director of Child Sponsorship to plan, implement and measure response of Child Sponsorship Program, including communicating with sponsors on their student's progress
  6. Attend nonprofit webinars and share learned content with the team
  7. Stay up to date with Kenyan education system and current events
  8. Gain knowledge on nonprofit financial reports and filing by working with organization’s CFO/Treasurer
  9. Research local philanthropy events where LINC could present and/or network 
  10. Attend LINC events, such as presentations and fundraiser events to record/photograph, or provide support
  11. Assist our team with marketing efforts through social media engagement, emails, and printed mail.

  • Ability to learn and use Google - G-suite, email and chat feature for communication

Education and Experience

  • Enrolled college student pursuing studies in nonprofit management, child development, international development, business, marketing or similar studies
  • Experience with customer service and maintaining professional setting 


Working Conditions

  • Internship with self scheduled hours
  • Primarily virtual, with potential in-person meetings


Physical requirements

This position operates in a remote/virtual professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines. If meeting in person, intern is to be dressed business casual and maintain a professional demeanor
