Key Responsibilities

Regulatory Compliance & Risk

  • Develop realistic scenarios involving regulatory compliance programme design and implementation
  • Create tasks requiring regulatory interpretation and compliance risk assessment
  • Evaluate legal and compliance recommendations for accuracy, completeness, and practical applicability
  • Identify regulatory exposure, control gaps, and weaknesses in compliance strategies
  • Produce reference compliance memoranda and regulatory analyses

Agency Investigations & Enforcement

  • Design scenarios involving regulatory investigations, enforcement actions, and agency interactions
  • Develop response strategies for inquiries, examinations, investigations, and enforcement proceedings
  • Evaluate proposed responses for procedural, legal, and strategic soundness
  • Produce reference enforcement-response documents and related legal analyses
  • Identify weaknesses, unsupported assumptions, and potential regulatory risks

Rulemaking & Administrative Law

  • Create tasks involving rulemaking, regulatory interpretation, public-comment processes, and administrative procedure
  • Apply relevant US frameworks such as the Administrative Procedure Act and agency-specific statutes and regulations
  • Develop scenarios involving EU regulations and directives, UK regulatory frameworks, or comparable international regimes
  • Evaluate regulatory submissions, comment letters, and legal interpretations
  • Assess how statutory and regulatory authority applies to complex factual situations

Industry-Specific Regulation

  • Develop tasks across financial services regulation, healthcare and FDA regulation, antitrust and competition law, data privacy, cybersecurity regulation, and environmental or energy regulation
  • Apply specialist knowledge to realistic regulated-industry scenarios
  • Evaluate compliance obligations and regulatory risks across different sectors
  • Assess interactions between regulatory requirements, business operations, and enforcement exposure
  • Produce reference analyses reflecting senior-level regulatory judgement

Regulatory Tools & Documentation

  • Develop scenarios involving regulatory tracking platforms, compliance-management systems, and agency filing processes
  • Structure legal and regulatory information into clear, reviewable outputs
  • Create reference regulatory filings, compliance memoranda, and enforcement materials
  • Evaluate documentation for legal accuracy, completeness, and professional quality
  • Apply consistent standards across complex regulatory workflows

AI Evaluation & Rubric Development

  • Design expert-level evaluation tasks across regulatory law and compliance workflows
  • Draft reference outputs demonstrating strong professional legal judgement
  • Develop rubrics that distinguish senior-level regulatory reasoning from generic academic or examination-level responses
  • Review AI-generated outputs for legal accuracy, regulatory awareness, and practical relevance
  • Identify subtle reasoning errors, incomplete analyses, and unrealistic compliance recommendations
  • Provide clear written rationale supporting evaluation decisions

Ideal Profile

  • 5+ years of professional experience in regulatory law, compliance law, administrative law, government affairs, or a closely related field
  • Senior-level experience as a Regulatory Attorney, Regulatory Counsel, Compliance Counsel, or comparable legal professional
  • Experience within a major law firm, regulated company, government agency, or specialised regulatory practice
  • Direct ownership of regulatory compliance programmes, agency interactions, investigations, enforcement matters, or rulemaking processes
  • Strong understanding of administrative procedure, regulatory interpretation, compliance risk assessment, and enforcement strategy
  • Experience with US regulatory frameworks, EU or UK regulatory regimes, or both
  • Expertise in one or more regulated sectors such as financial services, healthcare, pharmaceuticals, technology, privacy, cybersecurity, competition, environmental, or energy regulation
  • Strong written communication and ability to explain complex regulatory reasoning clearly and precisely
  • JD with bar admission or an equivalent recognised international legal qualification is strongly preferred
  • Experience developing regulatory guidance, compliance documentation, training materials, or evaluation rubrics is advantageous
