The Senior Product Manager – Digital Software will lead product strategy and development for the company's fundraising and donation products, serving nonprofits, charities, faith organizations, schools, and other mission-driven organizations.


This role is responsible for product strategy, roadmap development, prioritization, product performance, and client experience within the assigned portfolio. The position requires a strong understanding of digital fundraising, online payments, donor experiences, and the operational needs of organizations that rely on fundraising technology.


The Senior Product Manager will use client insights, market information, product data, and business objectives to inform product decisions and recommendations. Company-level AI strategy and broader software portfolio strategy remain under the direction of the VP of Product, with the Senior Product Manager contributing relevant client, market, and domain expertise.


The role works closely with Engineering, Design, Marketing, Sales, Client Success, Support, Finance, Legal, Compliance, Security, payment providers, technology partners, and other stakeholders. The Senior Product Manager is expected to lead cross-functional initiatives through influence and make product decisions within established priorities, delegated authority, company policies, and applicable governance processes.


Compensation: The compensation range for this position is between $125k-$170k in the US and £95k-£150k in the UK depending on location and experience.



Responsibilities


Product Strategy and Management

  • Develop and maintain product strategy for assigned fundraising and donation products based on client needs, market conditions, product performance, business objectives, and available resources.
  • Develop and maintain product roadmaps that establish priorities, dependencies, trade-offs, investments, and expected outcomes.
  • Define and prioritize product features, capabilities, packaging, service offerings, and client experiences within established business and approval processes.
  • Evaluate competitive and market developments and incorporate relevant insights into product recommendations.
  • Manage product lifecycle activities, including enhancements, supported versions, deprecations, client transitions, and data migration considerations.
  • Identify and communicate product risks, dependencies, resource requirements, and potential client or business impacts.


Fundraising and Donor Experience

  • Develop and maintain working knowledge of the digital fundraising lifecycle, including donation forms, one-time and recurring giving, donor accounts, acknowledgements, and donor engagement.
  • Guide product requirements for fundraising capabilities such as campaigns, appeals, peer-to-peer fundraising, events, pledges, tribute giving, matching gifts, and designated funds.
  • Improve the recurring giving experience, including subscription management, donor self-service, payment recovery, and retention.
  • Partner with appropriate internal subject-matter experts to identify product requirements related to charitable receipting, tax documentation, privacy, consent, data retention, accessibility, and other applicable requirements.
  • Ensure product requirements appropriately address donor data, reporting, exports, and authorized access in collaboration with Legal, Compliance, Security, Finance, and other relevant stakeholders.
  • Define reporting and analytics requirements that support client decision-making and organizational needs.

Payments, Trust, and Security

  • Define and prioritize product requirements for payment methods, payment providers, recurring payments, refunds, disputes, chargebacks, and related client experiences.
  • Partner with Engineering, Security, payment providers, and other appropriate stakeholders to support payment reliability, fraud prevention, data protection, and security requirements.
  • Consider applicable payment, privacy, accessibility, and security requirements when developing product plans and recommendations.
  • Escalate legal, regulatory, security, privacy, compliance, or other specialized matters to the appropriate internal subject-matter experts.
  • Support product planning for periods of increased fundraising activity and client demand.


Commercial Product Performance

  • Develop product priorities that support approved client and business objectives, which may include adoption, conversion, retention, expansion, revenue, margin, and other relevant measures.
  • Develop business cases and investment recommendations that consider client value, market opportunity, anticipated business impact, costs, resources, risks, and strategic alignment.
  • Provide product input into pricing, packaging, monetization, and go-to-market decisions within established approval processes.
  • Partner with Marketing, Sales, Client Success, and other teams on product positioning, launches, adoption, and client growth.


Product Development and Innovation

  • Identify client needs, market opportunities, and potential product enhancements or new capabilities.
  • Lead client discovery, validation, prototyping, and experimentation activities with relevant client and user groups.
  • Define and prioritize initial product scope and establish measurable success criteria.
  • Balance client value, product quality, technical feasibility, resources, risks, timing, and business objectives throughout the product development lifecycle.
  • Coordinate product launches and evaluate results following release.


AI and Portfolio Strategy

  • Contribute client, market, and product expertise to the company's broader AI and software strategy under the direction of the VP of Product.
  • Evaluate opportunities to apply AI and emerging technologies to fundraising experiences and workflows while considering client value, data considerations, product quality, security, and applicable company requirements.
  • Translate approved company and portfolio strategies into actionable product plans and priorities.
  • Communicate relevant product, client, and market insights to support broader portfolio planning.


Product Performance and Measurement

  • Establish and monitor product KPIs aligned with approved product and business objectives.
  • Partner with relevant teams to support appropriate product instrumentation, data quality, reporting, and performance measurement.
  • Monitor metrics such as donation conversion, recurring donor retention, payment success, product adoption, client engagement, and other relevant measures.
  • Communicate product performance, key insights, risks, and recommendations to product leadership and relevant stakeholders.
  • Use qualitative and quantitative information to evaluate product performance and inform prioritization and investment recommendations.


Client and Market Engagement

  • Engage with nonprofit organizations, fundraising professionals, agencies, consultants, donors, and client-facing teams to understand client needs and product opportunities.
  • Incorporate client feedback and experience considerations into product strategy and prioritization.
  • Monitor relevant developments in fundraising technology, nonprofit technology, payments, WordPress, and related industries.
  • Maintain productive relationships with technology, integration, payment, and other relevant external partners.
  • Represent the company and its products professionally and in accordance with applicable company policies and communications guidelines.


Cross-Functional Leadership

  • Lead cross-functional product initiatives by establishing clear objectives, priorities, responsibilities, decision-making processes, and measures of success.
  • Facilitate alignment across stakeholders and support timely resolution of product risks, dependencies, and competing priorities.
  • Communicate product strategy, priorities, decisions, and changes clearly to relevant stakeholders.
  • Build effective working relationships across Product, Engineering, Design, Marketing, Sales, client Success, Support, Legal, Compliance, Security, Finance, and other functions.
  • Share product knowledge and contribute to the development and continuous improvement of product management practices.
  • Provide leadership and direction within the scope of assigned responsibilities and delegated authority.
  • Perform other related duties and responsibilities as assigned based on organizational and business needs.

Required Qualifications

  • Significant professional experience in product management, including experience operating at a Senior, Lead, or comparable level of responsibility, scope, and decision-making.
  • Experience with fundraising, donation, payments, ecommerce, subscription, or other transactional digital products.
  • Working knowledge of online payments, including payment gateways, recurring billing, refunds, disputes, chargebacks, and payment recovery.
  • Understanding of the needs and operating environment of nonprofits or other mission-driven organizations.
  • Familiarity with product considerations related to privacy, data protection, accessibility, security, and payment processing.
  • Experience contributing to commercial product outcomes such as revenue, adoption, retention, pricing, packaging, monetization, or margin.
  • Experience defining, monitoring, and interpreting product and business KPIs.
  • Demonstrated experience developing and launching products, features, or product capabilities from concept through client availability and ongoing improvement.
  • Demonstrated ability to gather and incorporate client feedback into product strategy and prioritization.
  • Ability to understand technical concepts, including APIs, integrations, data flows, and system dependencies, and collaborate effectively with technical teams.
  • Experience leading cross-functional initiatives and building alignment among technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to clearly communicate product strategy, priorities, recommendations, and decisions.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with WordPress and related fundraising products, including GiveWP or comparable platforms.
  • Experience working with nonprofits, charities, faith organizations, educational institutions, or other mission-driven organizations.
  • Experience with peer-to-peer fundraising, events, campaigns, recurring giving, or donor engagement.
  • Experience integrating fundraising products with CRM, donor management, accounting, marketing, or other business systems.
  • Experience with international fundraising, multi-currency payments, or regional payment methods.
  • Experience with fraud prevention and risk management for public-facing payment experiences.
  • Experience developing or managing AI-enabled product capabilities.
  • Experience working within a multi-product or software portfolio organization.
  • Familiarity with open-source software communities, contribution models, governance practices, or commercial models.
  • Experience working with distributed or cross-functional teams in a technology or software environment.
