Job description

About Source

Source is redefining how the built world comes together.

We’re building the operating system for global commercial construction—an AI-native platform designed to accelerate decision-making across the entire lifecycle of a project. From vision to execution, we empower owners, designers, and vendors to move faster, collaborate smarter, and unlock better outcomes at scale.

Our work is grounded in the belief that enduring spaces start with empowered teams—and that intelligent infrastructure can transform how an entire industry operates. This isn’t about digitizing workflows. It’s about reengineering the system with clarity, transparency, and trust at its core.

If you’re energized by complexity, motivated by purpose, and ready to help shape the future of the built environment—we’d love to build it with you.

The Role

Source is looking for an experienced Purchasing Project Director to lead project purchasing, oversee project teams, communicate with clients, work with our trusted vendors, and manage multiple projects from early stages through completion and installation. You will help to implement new and innovative ways to purchase FF&E (furniture, fixtures, and equipment) while streamlining processes and saving time and resources.

This role manages a team of Purchasing Project Managers and Coordinators who work with internal teams as well as local and national architects, designers, owners, and contractors. The objective is to successfully budget, purchase, deliver, and install FF&E for small to large commercial and hospitality projects, in addition to other project typologies. This requires ensuring all team members work within strict budgets, project schedules, and prescribed design visions. While this is a management role, the position may be assigned its own projects during high volume cycles. This position is responsible for managing the successful outcomes of a range of projects at one time, varying in scope and size.

Your Impact

Team Leadership & Development

  • Review project timelines across all Project Managers on your team and keep work on track for successful delivery
  • Manage team capacity and assign manager and coordinator teams to incoming work
  • Train your team on purchasing processes and systems
  • Train your team on updates to Source's proprietary software, ensuring SOPs are maintained and followed
  • Identify priorities for each project alongside your team members

Specification & Budget Oversight

  • From kickoff, work with internal and external stakeholders to keep specifications within budget and aligned with the design vision
  • Audit all specifications and floorplans, partnering with designers and architects to resolve any clarifications
  • Track budgets closely and ensure all changes are communicated appropriately

Vendor & Bid Management

  • Build vendor bid lists and run an accurate, timely RFQ process
  • Ensure bid data is thorough and accurate
  • Present bid analyses to clients, communicating vendor recommendations and project strategy

Logistics, Procurement & Accounting

  • Prepare, distribute, and analyze logistics RFPs; present comparisons to clients and recommend logistics partners
  • Liaise with logistics partners to determine a warehousing plan for each project
  • Support the Purchasing Manager in generating purchase orders and change orders
  • Oversee all vendor bill approvals and tracking; review invoices and select those to be paid
  • Support the Project Accounting Manager with client cash flows and payment activities

Project Execution & Closeout

  • Ensure project team is tracking all orders regularly and maintaining accurate, transparent reporting
  • Ensure coordinators secure timely sign-off on sample and finish submittals
  • Partner with the Installation Manager on onsite installation dates, requirements, and post-installation punch list items
  • Communicate project status and updates regularly with clients and your team
  • Ensure project closeouts are processed within 30 days of installation

What You’ll Bring to the Role

  • 7+ years of FF&E purchasing experience
  • 5+ years managing and overseeing purchasing teams
  • Demonstrated experience hiring and scaling a team to meet capacity
  • Ability to independently lead large, complex projects from kickoff through closeout
  • Familiarity with commercial interior products, with the ability to read and interpret architectural floor plans and specifications
  • Proficiency in Google Workspace and Microsoft Office
  • Experience with procurement software (a plus)
  • Bachelor's degree in Interior Design, Architecture, Project Management, or a related field
  • Eagerness to learn and implement new technologies
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Ability to multitask, prioritize, and meet demanding deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • A proactive approach to anticipating and resolving project concerns
  • Effective collaboration with both internal and external stakeholders
