Data Platform Manager


Job Description: 
The Data Platform Manager is responsible for overseeing the design, development, and ongoing management of the organization’s data platform, ensuring it effectively supports analytics, reporting, and operational data needs. This role leads the strategy and execution of data architecture, data engineering, and platform optimization, including tools such as Databricks, Fivetran, and Oracle Fusion integrations. The Data Platform Manager works closely with business leaders, IT, Data Engineers, and Report Analysts to align data capabilities with business objectives. In a cross-functional environment, this role also ensures strong collaboration between data engineering and reporting functions to deliver reliable, scalable, and accessible data solutions. This position plays a critical leadership role in driving data governance, platform performance, and the overall data strategy of the organization. 


Data Platform Strategy & Leadership:
• Define and execute the data platform strategy, including architecture, tools, and data integration approaches. 
• Lead the design and evolution of scalable data infrastructure leveraging tools such as Databricks and Fivetran. 
• Establish standards for data ingestion, transformation, storage, and access across the organization. 
• Align data platform capabilities with business priorities and long-term analytics objectives. 


Data Engineering & Architecture Oversight: 
• Oversee the development and maintenance of data pipelines, ETL/ELT processes, and data models. 
• Provide technical leadership to Data Engineers in building efficient, reliable, and scalable data solutions. 
• Ensure seamless integration of data from systems such as Oracle Fusion into centralized data environments. 
• Guide architectural decisions around data warehousing, lakehouse structures, and modern data frameworks.


Reporting & Cross-Functional Enablement:
• Partner with Report Analysts and business teams to ensure data availability supports reporting and analytics needs. 
• Oversee the alignment between data engineering outputs and reporting/BI tools such as Oracle OTBI, Power BI, and Tableau. 
• Ensure strong collaboration between data engineering and reporting functions in a blended operating model. 
• Support prioritization and delivery of reporting and data initiatives across business units. 


Data Governance, Quality & Operations:
• Establish and enforce data governance policies, standards, and best practices. 
• Ensure data quality, accuracy, integrity, and security across all data platforms. 
• Oversee platform performance, monitoring, and issue resolution processes. 
• Manage data access, compliance, and security in coordination with IT and leadership. 
• Drive continuous improvement in data processes, tools, and platform capabilities. 
• Perform other duties as assigned. 


Required Skills:
• Strong expertise in data architecture, data modeling, and data platform design. 
• Advanced SQL skills with the ability to guide best practices across teams. 
• Deep experience with Databricks (or similar platforms) for large-scale data processing and transformation. 
• Experience with Fivetran or similar tools for automated data ingestion and pipeline orchestration. 
• Strong understanding of ETL/ELT frameworks, data warehousing, and lakehouse architectures. 
• Ability to lead and mentor technical teams, including Data Engineers and Analysts. 
• Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to manage complex data and platform challenges. 
• Experience supporting reporting tools such as Oracle OTBI, Power BI, or Tableau. 
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills with the ability to translate technical concepts into business value. 
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and strategic initiatives. 
• Knowledge of data governance, security, and compliance best practices. 


Education & Experience:
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Engineering, or a related field (Master’s preferred). 
• 6+ years of experience in data engineering, data architecture, or data platform management roles. 
• 2+ years of experience in a leadership or management capacity, overseeing data teams or projects. 
• Hands-on experience with modern data platforms including Databricks and data ingestion tools such as Fivetran. 
• Experience working with ERP systems, particularly Oracle Fusion, and supporting downstream reporting environments such as OTBI. 
• Demonstrated experience aligning technical data solutions with business needs through cross-functional collaboration.
