Job description

Job Title: Director of Managed Schools Marketing

Department: Marketing
Reports to: VP of Marketing
Location: Remote-first | Phoenix Metro
Employment Type: Exempt / Full-Time

About StrongMind:

StrongMind is a remote-first education and technology company on a mission to transform learning for students, families, and educators across the country. For more than 25 years, we’ve partnered with schools and districts to deliver innovative, student-centered learning experiences powered by technology, compassion, and bold thinking.

We believe education should be flexible, human, and built for real life. That belief shapes how we design our products, support our partners, and work together as a team. At StrongMind, you’ll find smart people doing meaningful work, a culture rooted in trust and accountability, and leaders who genuinely care about both outcomes and people.

The Team You Will Join:

You’ll join StrongMind’s Marketing organization at an exciting time!

We are investing in the team, adding new capabilities, modernizing our tools and operating model, and creating much clearer ownership around the business outcomes Marketing drives.

Managed Schools is one of our core Marketing business units and supports schools including Primavera Online School, American Virtual Academy, Valor Preparatory Academy, and others in our portfolio.

You’ll work closely with our VP of Marketing, school leaders, Enrollment teams, Marketing Operations, and shared Creative and Production teams to build an integrated growth engine for these schools.

This is not a Marketing team built around silos and handoffs for handoffs’ sake. We’re building a modern, AI-powered function where smart people understand the full customer journey, own outcomes, collaborate well, and move.

If you like building, challenging old ways of working, and having real influence over how a Marketing function operates, you’ll have plenty of room to do that here.

The Difference You Will Make:

In this role, your work will directly impact the growth and success of StrongMind’s managed schools by turning enrollment goals into integrated marketing strategies that drive qualified inquiries, applications, and enrollments.

You’ll connect the dots across brand, growth, paid media, content, social, web, lifecycle, events, reputation, and analytics. Rather than personally executing every deliverable, you’ll set strategy, create clarity, direct resources, develop your team, and own the outcomes.

You’ll help build a Marketing model where our schools understand what Marketing is doing, why we’re doing it, how it’s performing, and what we’re doing next—creating a strategic, repeatable, measurable approach to enrollment growth.

A Typical Day Looks Like:

While no two days are exactly the same, you can expect to:

  • Translate school enrollment goals into integrated quarterly and annual marketing strategies.
  • Review funnel performance and determine where budgets, campaigns, and resources need to shift.
  • Partner with Enrollment and school leaders to improve lead quality, conversion, application completion, and enrollment yield.
  • Build and oversee campaigns across paid media, organic, social, lifecycle, web, events, community partnerships, influencer content, and other relevant channels.
  • Review creative, media plans, landing pages, messaging, and customer journeys to identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Lead strategy for school reputation, reviews, testimonials, social proof, and community visibility.
  • Guide marketing team members supporting events, community engagement, and brand ambassador initiatives toward clear enrollment, engagement, and brand outcomes.
  • Develop clear briefs and partner with Marketing Operations, Creative, Digital, and Production teams to move initiatives from strategy through launch.
  • Use data to make informed decisions, optimize performance, and identify opportunities for growth.
  • Use AI as a daily part of research, analysis, campaign development, audits, content iteration, optimization, and automation.
  • Surface risks early, make thoughtful tradeoffs, and keep high-priority work moving.
  • This position requires availability to work core business hours of 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM Arizona time, Monday through Friday.

This role balances strategic thinking, leadership, collaboration, and execution and is well-suited for someone who enjoys building, improving, problem-solving, and turning complex business goals into measurable growth.

Your Expertise Includes:

We’re looking for someone who brings:

  • 7+ years of progressive Marketing experience with meaningful ownership of growth, acquisition, enrollment, revenue, or similarly measurable business outcomes.
  • Experience developing and leading integrated, multi-channel marketing strategies.
  • Broad knowledge across performance marketing, brand, lifecycle, content, social, web, CRO, SEO/GEO, customer journeys, and analytics, with deeper expertise in several areas.
  • Experience managing marketing budgets and making investment decisions based on performance.
  • Strong understanding of marketing funnels, attribution, conversion, and customer behavior.
  • Experience leading people and coordinating shared or matrixed resources.
  • Strong cross-functional collaboration skills and the ability to build alignment across teams, functions, and senior leaders.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to turn strategy into clear direction and action.
  • An AI-native approach to work, using AI to research, create, analyze, automate, optimize, and increase efficiency.
  • A strong alignment with StrongMind’s core values: Kindness, Accountability, Collaboration, Innovation, and Grit.

You’ll likely thrive in this role if you:

  • Are passionate about marketing, creative strategy, customer behavior, and understanding what actually drives results.
  • Think like a full-stack marketer who can connect brand, growth, content, web, lifecycle, events, and analytics into one cohesive strategy.
  • Balance creative thinking with strong business discipline and measurable outcomes.
  • Hold yourself and others to high standards while remaining accountable, collaborative, and adaptable.
  • Are AI-native, curious, proactive, and energized by challenging outdated ways of working.
  • Take ownership, move quickly, and proactively identify what needs to happen next.

Bonus points if you also have:

  • K–12 or enrollment marketing experience.
  • Experience with online, hybrid, charter, or alternative education.
  • Experience marketing directly to parents and families.
  • Experience with influencer, creator, community, or field marketing.

What Success Looks Like:

Success in this role is not measured by the number of campaigns or assets produced. It is measured by whether our schools grow, whether Marketing becomes a trusted and reliable growth partner, and whether the team operates with clarity, discipline, and measurable impact.

You’ll be succeeding when:

  • Each managed school has a clear marketing strategy tied directly to enrollment goals.
  • Qualified inquiries and applications are improving.
  • Marketing budgets and resources are consistently shifted based on performance.
  • Campaigns are proactive, measurable, and continuously optimized.
  • School brands, reputation, and community visibility continue to strengthen.
  • Marketing and school leaders have clear visibility into priorities, performance, and next steps.
  • The Managed Schools Marketing model becomes strategic, repeatable, measurable, and consistently drives enrollment growth.

Our Commitment to Inclusion & Belonging:

We believe the best ideas come from bringing together people with different perspectives, experiences, and ways of thinking. We are committed to welcoming a broad range of talent and encouraging all qualified individuals to apply. We strive to create an environment where everyone feels a sense of belonging and is empowered to contribute, grow, and do meaningful work.

How We'll Take Care of You:

We believe that when people feel supported, they do their best work.

Our commitment to you includes:

  • A competitive total compensation package, including medical, dental, vision, and voluntary benefits
  • Well-being that works for real life—from an on-site gym, virtual wellness programs, and wellness coaching to flexible work options for select roles, because your well-being fuels your brilliance
  • Unlimited PTO for salaried roles and “life happens” days when you need flexibility
  • A fully paid holiday week off at Christmas, so you can truly rest, reset, and reconnect
  • Recognition and rewards that celebrate birthdays, meaningful anniversary milestones, and community service hours that let you give back
  • Quarterly Town Halls that keep communication transparent, honest, and human
  • Annual social events and traditions we genuinely look forward to—like Halloween celebrations, Wellness Fairs, and other moments that bring our community together

We’re intentional about building a workplace where people feel valued, connected, and empowered to thrive—at work and beyond.
