Job description

We are searching for a Supervisor, Buff & Polish to join our team and support operations in our Buff & Polish department. The Operations Supervisor is responsible for leading activities of associates, daily management, performance management, training, and reporting on Fender’s Management team. They will be responsible for ensuring that production meets daily production goals, supervising manufacturing personnel, and the execution of smooth and balanced workflow through the production floor. They will also coordinate with employees in various work areas to maximize productivity and interface with Human Resources regularly regarding your team. This individual will also schedule smooth production of product to conform to production goals.

Essential Functions:

  • Identify team opportunities for improvement - Prod, Safety, Quality, Training, etc.
  • Monitor and manage team metrics to goal, conduct performance evaluations, coach, and mentor direct reports
  • Communicate safety updates, policies, and weekly tool-box topics regularly
  • Responsibility to Audit/verify proper PPEs are being utilized
  • Responsible for Hr x Hr tracking and the Capture of Hr x Hr internal/external issues
  • Facilitate problem resolution or escalate to Manager - as needed
  • Oversee Work/job observation audits - periodically throughout the day
  • Audit line-side material and ensure min/max is maintained
  • Manage timekeeping for team
  • Sequence/schedule group production
  • Daily 5S audit – communicate needed corrective actions to team members and Daily 5S checklist (verifies team completes tasks)
  • Problem solving involvement related to SQDC/Hr x Hr information
  • Additional duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • Two or more years of college level – Manufacturing / Industrial Engineering and / or management classes very helpful
  • Must have knowledge of TPS / Lean Manufacturing practices. (A3, VSM, 5S, MDI, Kaizen, Poke-Yoke, Leading and Lagging KPI’s etc.)
  • Experience in Continuous Improvement and strategic thinking with demonstrated supervisory skills including structured work, training & coaching, and teamwork approach
  • Previous experience in finishing or manufacturing processes (at least 2 years)
  • Must have strong understanding of Inventory Control Management, Shop Floor Operational Systems, Management for Daily Improvement, RCCA (Lead and Drive) Manufacturing processes on a Lean Environment and able to use/lead and challenge Advance Quality Tools and machinery in a woodworking environment is preferred
  • Ability to solve problems using advanced quality tools / RCCA tools and coach others to solve problems
  • Ability to manage assigned budget by accounts and work non-standard hours as required
  • Bilingual in English/Spanish preferred
