THE OPPORTUNITY:

As a Senior Gameplay Engineer at Eleventh Hour Games, you will play a key role in shaping the technical direction of EHG. You’ll be responsible for building systems, mentoring engineers across gameplay and tools, and ensuring technical excellence throughout the pipeline. You will collaborate closely with design, art, and production teams to deliver innovative, performant, and scalable solutions. You will assist the Development Director in mentoring engineers, establish best practices, and help bridge high-level vision with hands-on engineering. The ideal candidate thrives in complex problem-solving, has deep expertise, and brings strong communication skills to drive collaboration across a fully remote, global team.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Play a key part in engineering efforts across core systems, gameplay features, tools, and pipelines
  • Partner with design and art leadership to translate creative vision into technical solutions
  • Establish and maintain engineering standards, workflows, and best practices
  • Provide technical mentorship to engineers, driving code quality and professional growth
  • Define performance targets and corresponding benchmarks
  • Build scalable systems to support complex gameplay
  • Improve engineering practices across the studio to ensure efficiency and sustainability
  • Foster a collaborative and high performing engineering culture

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 5+ years of professional game development experience
  • History of shipping at least one AAA or large-scale AA title in a senior or principal engineering capacity
  • Proficiency in C++ or C#
  • Experience optimizing performance across platforms (PC and console)
  • Background in systems design, with ability to build maintainable, scalable solutions
  • Experience in mentoring engineers, code review, and setting technical standards
  • Excellent cross-discipline collaboration and communication skills

PREFERENCES:

  • Experience with multiplayer networking and online systems
  • Knowledge of ARPGs, action combat systems, or similar
  • Experience building for GAAS
