Enrolled Agent, Offer in Compromise (EA OIC)

Job Type: Full-Time

About the Role

We're looking for an Enrolled Agent, Offer in Compromise (EA OIC) to manage IRS Offer in Compromise cases from start to finish. In this role, you'll put client advocacy at the center of every decision, working to secure the best possible resolution by exhausting every available option. You'll prepare rebuttals to incorrect Extension to Pay (ETP) demand letters, submit appeal packages when warranted, and coordinate closely with internal teams to keep cases moving.

What You'll Do

  • Manage Offer in Compromise (OIC) cases from start to finish, overseeing the process through acceptance, rejection, denial, or appeal
  • Act as a strong advocate for the client, exhausting all available options to achieve the best possible outcome
  • Review client documentation thoroughly before submission to ensure accuracy and completeness
  • Communicate regularly with assigned IRS Offer Specialists and Examiners, providing required documentation and updates
  • Analyze Reasonable Collection Potential (RCP) calculations to identify errors, missing expenses, or opportunities for appeal
  • Prepare and submit rebuttals to incorrect or outdated ETP demand letters from the IRS
  • Prepare and submit Appeal packets when necessary and attend Appeal conferences as scheduled
  • Collaborate daily with internal teams to ensure the timely progression of each case
  • Maintain excellent written and verbal communication while nurturing positive relationships with IRS personnel and internal teams
  • Prioritize the client's best interest in every decision and action
  • Perform additional duties as assigned

What You'll Need

Required Qualifications:

  • Enrolled Agent (EA) license or CPA (Certified Public Accountant)
  • Active PTIN (Preparer's Tax Identification Number)
  • Established e-Services account on IRS.gov
  • 1+ years of experience setting up resolutions with ACS (Automated Collection System) or Revenue Officers

Skills & Competencies:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to speak clearly, listen actively, and produce professional correspondence
  • Proficient in Google Suite and CRM platforms, with strong multitasking abilities in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong interpersonal and emotional intelligence skills, including empathy, self-awareness, and emotional regulation
  • Service-oriented mindset with the ability to build rapport quickly with clients and colleagues
  • Quick learner with strong knowledge retention and the ability to rapidly apply product knowledge and compliance guidelines
  • High level of professionalism, discretion, and commitment to confidentiality
  • Strong understanding of IRS tax procedures, including return processing, personal and business compliance, and identity theft

 

Salary: $75-90k based on experience + commissions available after 60 days

Location: REMOTE or Onsite in Irvine, CA
