Founding Partner, Trusts & Estates
Lead the founding practice. Design the firm it becomes.
About Jay.
Jay is a national, attorney-centric, AI-enabled law firm built to serve the people in the middle of the legal market: the tens of millions of households with real legal needs and the means to pay, whose choices today are elite firms built for someone else or form companies that offer documents without counsel. Attorneys are the heart of what we do. AI is how we deliver exceptional service at a price people can afford, and how we free attorneys from the operational work that should have been automated years ago. We are starting with trusts and estates, but we will not stop there.
Jay is founded by Bob Borek, previously COO and President of Datavant, where he scaled the company from early stage to more than $7 billion in value. Prior to that, he practiced law at Wachtell, Lipton, Rosen & Katz. Jay is backed by Travis May, co-founder of LiveRamp and founder of Datavant, and Shaper Capital.
The role.
This is the first attorney leadership hire at Jay.
First, you will lead the founding trusts and estates practice, serving clients directly, defining the standard of care, and demonstrating what exceptional T&E counsel looks like when an attorney's time is spent on judgment and relationships instead of operations.
Second, you will partner with the founder on service design and productization. Jay's operating system will be built around your forms, your checklists, and your judgment about where attorney attention matters most. You will decide, with us, what attorney-centric, but productized estate planning contains, what it costs, and where the line sits between what the system does and what only a lawyer should do.
Third, you will work closely with the founder on firm expansion and recruiting, obsessing over how we provide exceptional, AI-enabled service across all fifty states.
You will set the tone of the firm, for the clients we serve, for the attorneys who join after you, and for a profession watching whether this can be done well.
What you’ll do.
Who you are.
What success looks like — the first year.
Compensation.
Founding-partner economics: meaningful founding equity in Jay, significant ownership in the affiliated law practice, and a competitive draw. Specific structure is discussed directly - this is a co-founding conversation, not a salary negotiation.
Location and licensure.
California or New York licensure required; location flexible. The founding team works closely day to day, and regardless of location there will be regular in-person time.
After you apply, unlock the direct contact details of the people who actually make the call. A quick follow-up makes you 5x more likely to land an interview.
