Job Description

- Teaching in an online context (synchronous and asynchronous); and

- Engaging in Aviation English curriculum development, as assigned.

Training in Aviation English and Aviation Familiarity will be provided to new faculty.

Our English for Specific Purposes (ESP) programs are designed to improve the English language proficiency of aviation professionals. This position will initially be focused on the delivery and development of quality online ESP instruction for air traffic controllers. ESP instruction and development could also include Aviation English for airline pilots, flight training cadets, maintenance engineers, flight attendants, or airport personnel.

Instructors and curriculum developers will be supported with initial and ongoing training to become familiar with and remain knowledgeable about aviation-related course topics.

During course delivery, instructors are members of a teaching team that meets regularly to discuss best practices and challenges. Instructors deliver up to 20 hours per week of synchronous classes, provide written and video feedback on students’ audio- and video-based submissions following established rubrics, and perform other teaching duties as needed.

Curriculum development is a vital part of this position. Developers are led by an experienced Aviation English team leader. Course content is developed for and delivered to students via a Learning Management System (LMS).
