Account Manager

Italy, Milan or Rome, homebased

About the Role

As an Account Manager, you will be responsible for maintaining and growing strategic relationships with leading academic institutions across Italy, Greece, Malta, and Cyprus. You will lead account planning, revenue growth, customer engagement, and cross-functional collaboration to help customers realize the full value of Elsevier’s research solutions while supporting long-term institutional success.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders across assigned accounts, including researchers, institutions, libraries, and commercial buyers;

  • Lead strategic account planning for Elsevier’s research products, aligned with customer business strategies and research priorities;

  • Meet or exceed annual revenue targets and drive the long-term growth of assigned accounts;

  • Drive new business opportunities for core products and lead renewal activities for core products and solutions;

  • Collaborate with Solution Account Managers and Customer Success Managers to maximize customer value and identify growth opportunities;

  • Conduct high-value and complex negotiations, including consortium and country-level agreements;

  • Develop and execute the Italian sales strategy in coordination with the Regional Account Director.

Requirements

  • Solid experience selling consultative technology and enterprise software solutions in a B2B environment;

  • Experience developing relationships with senior executives in academia;

  • Experience working within highly complex stakeholder environments;

  • Strong analytical and data-storytelling skills;

  • Experience in strategic account planning and building relationships across complex institutions;

  • Experience developing and executing medium- and long-term sales strategies in a complex environment;

  • Excellent communication and presentation skills in Italian and English; an additional EU language is a plus;

  • Demonstrated ability to lead projects in a matrixed organisation;

  • Ability to travel frequently within the territory (up to 50%).

Primary Location Base Pay Range: Home Based - Milan €35,700 - €59,600. Total Target Cash Range: €55,000 - €91,800.



Pay mix between base and variable pay varies based on sales role; please discuss with the recruiter.

This role is covered by a collective labor agreement in Italy.
