Job description

Harvard Business Publishing (HBP) – the leading destination for innovative management thinking. We reach lifelong learners to improve the practice of management in a changing world. This mission inspires each of us to unlock the leader in everyone – including you!

Harvard Business Impact empowers educators to prepare students who can navigate tomorrow’s complex challenges.

As the Senior Product Marketing Manager, Harvard Business Impact (HBI) – Education, you will shape the positioning, messaging, and go-to-market strategy for Harvard Business Impact's portfolio of higher education course materials and learning solutions, driving awareness, adoption, engagement, and retention among educators and academic institutions. You will thrive at the intersection of customer insight, product strategy, and growth, leveraging educator feedback, market trends, and experimentation to continuously refine product narratives, improve user experiences, and accelerate product success.

This is a highly strategic role for a Product Marketing leader who excels in cross-functional collaboration and brings deep expertise in product positioning, customer insights, product launches, adoption, and retention strategies. Experience marketing educational products, courseware, digital learning solutions, or academic publishing products to faculty and instructors within higher education is strongly preferred.

What you’ll do

Own product positioning and narrative

  • Develop and maintain the end-to-end product narrative across our portfolio, including value proposition hierarchy, differentiation, and ecosystem positioning

  • Define ideal customer profiles, primary use cases, and jobs to be done for educators evaluating and selecting course materials for their classes, guiding product awareness, engagement, and adoption decisions

Drive usage-led growth and adoption

  • Partner with Product Management to deeply understand educator behavior, needs, and friction points, translating insights into recommendations that improve discovery, engagement, and retention of products

  • Design and evolve product line growth and retention strategies (onboarding flows, activation moments and educational training)

Lead product launches and iteration

  • Own new product launch strategies, planning, and measurement with a focus on adoption and learning cycles rather than campaign execution

  • Define success metrics and feedback mechanisms to assess what’s working, what’s not, and where to iterate

  • Partner with Product Management, Sales, and Customer Success to ensure teams understand product value, customer pain points, and objections

What you’ll bring

  • 8+ years of experience in Product Marketing, Product Strategy, Go-to-Market, or related product-focused roles.

  • Proven expertise in product positioning, messaging, customer insights, and go-to-market strategy for evolving product portfolios.

  • Experience driving product awareness, adoption, engagement, retention, and customer growth through data-informed decision making.

  • Strong analytical skills with experience defining, measuring, and interpreting KPIs related to activation, usage, adoption, retention, and customer success.

  • Demonstrated success partnering cross-functionally with Product Management, Sales, Customer Success, and other key stakeholders to influence product strategy and market outcomes.

  • Experience leading product launches, developing customer-centric value propositions, and translating customer needs into compelling product narratives.

  • A growth mindset with a passion for experimentation, continuous learning, and optimizing how products are positioned, adopted, and experienced.

  • Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and collaboration skills.

  • Experience marketing educational products, courseware, learning solutions, digital learning platforms, or academic publishing products within higher education strongly preferred.

  • Strong understanding of how faculty, instructors, academic departments, and institutions evaluate, select, adopt, and utilize course materials and learning resources.

You'll stand out if you have

  • Experience marketing and selling educational products, course materials, or learning solutions directly to professors, instructors, and higher education faculty.

  • 5+ years of dedicated Product Marketing experience, with ownership of positioning, messaging, go-to-market strategy, and product launches.
