Job description

This position is responsible for managing and maintaining the corporate fleet program, supporting a fleet of approximately 150 to 300 passenger vehicles. The role oversees fleet strategy, maintenance, compliance, technology, vendor relationships, and operational performance to ensure the fleet safely and efficiently supports the business.

The ideal candidate is an analytical, highly organized fleet professional who can operate independently, solve complex problems, manage multiple priorities, and develop practical solutions that support business objectives. They have strong experience managing corporate fleet operations, vehicle maintenance, budgets, vendors, and regulatory requirements.

This role serves as both a strategic fleet leader and operational partner, working closely with Operations and other stakeholders to optimize fleet positioning and allocation, reduce downtime, improve safety, manage costs, and identify opportunities to enhance fleet effectiveness.

  • Manages vehicle licensing and registration.

  • Collaborates with Operations to determine and implement the fleet profile, positioning, and allocation strategy.

  • Creates fleet management parameters that best support the business.

  • Facilitates the identification, selection, and migration to a fleet management program.

  • Ensures strict servicing and maintenance schedules to minimize downtime and maintain operational schedules.

  • Creates and implements fleet maintenance and retirement policies to ensure operational efficiency.

  • Develops fleet purchase-versus-leasing business cases and makes strategic recommendations to the business.

  • Evaluates alternative fuel vehicles as options for fleet implementation.

  • Ensures proper driving practices.

  • Ensures records are maintained for vehicle servicing and inspection.

  • Evaluates fleet gas card program options, recommends a program, and implements it.

  • Manages the fleet gas card system.

  • Recommends, implements, and/or manages tools to monitor driver behavior and transportation incidents.

  • Evaluates new technologies that will make the fleet safer and more operationally effective.

  • Monitors federal, state, and local regulations affecting fleet and transportation operations.

  • Analyzes data to increase business operational efficiency.

  • Negotiates with suppliers.

  • Resolves disputes.

  • Determines appropriate staffing resources to achieve departmental goals and objectives.

  • Coaches employees on performance gaps, career development opportunities, and strategies.

  • Mentors and coaches employees on human resource processes, including onboarding, performance management, employee relations, compensation, and rewards.

  • Recognizes employee contributions and shares credit for success.

  • Owns employee satisfaction and retention and leads programs and initiatives designed to support a high-performing team.

  • Prepares and manages the budget as assigned, analyzes variances, and initiates corrective actions to maximize operational performance.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

  • Experience managing vehicle preventive maintenance and warranty issues.

  • Experience handling body damage claims.

  • Experience ordering and disposing of fleet vehicles.

  • Ability to develop and manage a fleet budget.

  • Experience in the transportation industry.

  • Familiarity with compliance with U.S. Department of Transportation laws and regulations.

  • Outstanding organizational skills.

  • Analytical mindset with strong problem-solving skills.

  • Strong attention to detail.

  • Ability to work independently and act with limited guidance.

  • Ability to handle pressure, multiple priorities, and deadlines while providing responsive customer service.

  • Ability to think unconventionally while delivering practical results that support the business.

  • Ability to develop business cases.

  • Ability to develop viable options for users while maintaining a strong focus on the bottom line.

  • National Association of Fleet Administrators or Automotive Fleet Manager certification desired.

  • Equivalent combination of education and/or experience may be considered.
     

Salary: $65,000-$75,000

This role is bonus eligible based on individual and company performance.

Combination of office work and travel; frequent standing and walking; driving between locations; use of computers and mobile devices; occasional lifting up to 20 lbs.
