We are seeking a Teaching Assistant (TA) who will support the success of the class and students by providing students with additional academic support in a professional manner. The TA assists students in
understanding content by using various teaching/tutoring strategies. A TA must be available to provide extra assistance to individual students as needed.

Specific Duties & Responsibilities

  • Assist in grading homework, quizzes, and exams in the online section of course.
  • Monitor online discussion boards, conduct online course communication with students, and assist during synchronous discussions.
  • Prepare the course site prior to the start of the course.
  • The site may include assignment descriptions and deadlines, grade book calculations, group and class discussion forums, student resources, practice exams, and mid-term course evaluations.
  • Require the student to outline a teaching module for future online teaching assistants. This module must include documents for preparing new teaching assistants, troubleshooting tips, and information on fostering a productive working relationship with a professor.
  • Other duties as assigned.


Minimum Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Additional education may substitute for required experience to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula.


Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree.
  • Completed Master’s Degree in related field strongly preferred.
  • Prior teaching experience in the relevant course content area preferred.
