Job description

Role Summary:

We are seeking an experienced German-speaking Contract Specialist to support a new ad-hoc requirement for a reputed client. The successful candidate will be responsible for the administration, review, and management of a range of commercial contracts, ensuring  alignment with client policies, business objectives, and risk management standards.

Duration & Volume:

The initial workload is expected to be relatively low, at approximately 1 - 3 contracts per month, with volumes anticipated to increase gradually over time.

Responsibilities and Duties:
  • Implement and adhere to the client’s contracting policies, processes, and standards.
  • Review, draft, and negotiate a broad range of commercial contracts, including service agreements, terms and conditions, and other contractual documents.
  • Support the negotiation of complex contractual terms in alignment with the client’s commercial and business strategies.
  • Respond to contract related queries and prepare appropriate documentation, agreements, and supporting materials.
  • Ensure contracts comply with applicable risk management policies, processes, and governance requirements.
  • Collaborate with relevant stakeholders to facilitate the efficient execution and management of contracts.
Required Skills/Abilities:
  • Native-level fluency in German, both written and spoken, is essential.
  • Strong ability to interpret complex contractual language, identify potential risks, and recommend practical mitigation strategies.
  • Good understanding of commercial contract terms, contracting practices, and their legal and commercial implications.
  • Experience with Contract Lifecycle Management (CLM) systems is preferred.
  • Strong technical proficiency and the ability to work comfortably with legal technology tools, particularly where direct CLM experience is limited.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Basic awareness of Generative AI tools and their potential applications in legal and contract management is an advantage.
Education and Experience:
  • Qualified Solicitor or experienced Paralegal with 3 - 5 years of relevant experience reviewing and managing commercial contracts.
  • Proven experience working with complex commercial contracts, with strong contractual negotiation skills.
