NATIONAL EQUITY FUND, INC. is a leading non-profit syndicator of Low-Income Housing Tax Credits (LIHTC) with a mission to create and deliver innovative, collaborative financial solutions to expand the creation and preservation of affordable housing.
The Paralegal works with NEF attorneys and paralegals to perform a variety of administrative and transactional functions handled by the NEF Legal Services Department.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Managing the processing of invoices submitted by NEF venders related to corporate entity maintenance and compliance.
Managing the processing of legal invoices submitted by NEF outside counsel, including preparing and submitting payment requests.
Interacting with NEF accounting departments and outside counsel billing departments.
Managing legal document deliverables related to multifamily affordable housing real estate development equity investment and loan closings.
Managing legal document deliverables related to multifamily affordable housing real estate investment fund closings.
Preparing internal funding disbursement requests regarding equity investment and loan closings, and post-closing disbursements.
Working with project management, asset management and investor relations departments to address pre-closing and post-closing matters.
Assisting in forming corporations and limited liability companies, including preparing articles of incorporation/organization, bylaws/operating agreements, and obtaining EINs.
Tracking NEF legal entity compliance, formation, and dissolution and filings.
Assistance in the preparation of U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development filings, including Limited Liability Corporate Investor (LLCI) filings, Know Your Customer filings, local municipality economic disclosure statement filings, and similar filings.
Other tasks as may be assigned from time to time.
MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:
A bachelorβs degree with prior experience working in a corporate law department or law firm environment.
Paralegal Certificate.
Minimum of 5 years of paralegal experience in the areas of real estate finance, general commercial real estate matters, or commercial finance transactions.
Must be able to communicate effectively with NEF legal staff, and management and staff in other NEF departments.
Must be able to interface effectively with representatives of investors, developers, vendors and other third parties.
Must possess attention to detail, good communication, writing and organizational skills, and maintain a professional demeanor in a fast-paced work environment.
