About the Role

We are seeking a GL Accountant to manage various aspects of General Ledger (GL) maintenance, financial reconciliations, and operational accounting workflows. In this role, responsibilities are dynamic and can be assigned across core GL functions, expense management platforms, and month-end close procedures based on team priorities. The ideal candidate possesses strong analytical skills to identify ledger errors, post accruals, and resolve complex accounting discrepancies.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and post monthly journal entries, including expense accruals, prepayments, and adjusting entries.
  • Review general ledger activity to identify inconsistencies, misclassifications, or errors, and execute corrective actions.
  • Investigate and resolve accounting discrepancies, variances, and reconciling items across departments.
  • Perform daily bank account reconciliations and weekly credit card reconciliations to maintain ledger accuracy.
  • Transition weekly and monthly reconciliation tasks to a daily basis during the month-end close period.
  • Assist with month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close activities.
  • Prepare and analyze supporting schedules and reconciliations to support financial reporting deadlines.
  • Prepare supporting schedules and documentation for internal and external audits.
  • Assist with audit requests and ensure compliance with company policies and accounting procedures.
  • Maintain fixed asset schedules, record additions/disposals, and reconcile depreciation expense.
  • Assist with periodic fixed asset reviews and audit support.
  • Prepare and reconcile intercompany transactions and balances.
  • Investigate and resolve intercompany differences with sister agencies and business partners.
  • Review employee expense reports to ensure accurate General Ledger (GL) account categorization and process timely employee reimbursements.
  • Categorize and process corporate travel expenses through Navan on a monthly basis.
  • Act as the primary administrator for the dedicated employee expenses Slack channel, providing prompt answers and resolving team member inquiries.
  • Set up new team members in Expensify and distribute relevant training resources to ensure they understand company expense policies.
  • Track and compile employee mileage data within Expensify to prepare for and support the annual Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) audit at year-end.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred.

  • B2+ English level proficiency for seamless collaboration with global teams.

  • Experience with ERP systems, with a strong preference for NetSuite.

  • Hands-on experience with expense management software, specifically Navan and Expensify.

  • Prior experience in bookkeeping, accounting, or an expense management role.

  • Strong understanding of General Ledger (GL) coding, accounts receivable, accrual accounting, and bank reconciliation processes.

  • Proficiency in Excel/Google Sheets for data management.

  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to kindly and clearly explain expense policies to team members via Slack.

  • Ability to handle high-volume data entry with precision, especially under the pressure of month-end close.

  • Strong attention to detail and ability to independently investigate and resolve accounting issues.
