Job description

Role Overview:

This is the senior technical seat in a delivery pod: a hands-on .NET engineer accountable for what the pod ships. You’ll lead delivery across our evolving platform—microservices, front-end replatforming, and SimpliAI integrations—owning scope, code quality, agent output, and production outcomes.

Responsibilities:

  • Own the pod’s delivery outcome end to end: decomposition, sequencing, dependency awareness, and the release itself
  • Write production .NET every week: services, APIs, data access, and the unglamorous parts of a mature codebase
  • Integrate SimpliAI capabilities into product features: agentic workflows, retrieval-augmented generation, structured extraction, tool calling, and model-backed behaviors, with evaluations and traces wired in from the start
  • Be the reviewer of record for the pod, including agent-produced code; nothing merges that someone in the pod cannot defend line by line
  • Run a short Plan-and-Review cadence: written plans, explicit assumptions, and open questions visible to everyone before work starts
  • Supervise the pod’s use of our agent loop (Wright) and delivery system (Conductor): set the guardrails, escalate the failures that need a human, and keep judgment where it belongs
  • Coach the mid-level and junior engineers in the pod through their own designs; success is a pod that needs less of you over time
  • Carry the pod’s technical debt honestly, including what you are choosing not to fix and why
  • Hold quality, latency, and cost of the pod’s surfaces in production, including on-call and postmortems
  • Escalate to Architecture early when a design outgrows the pod, rather than quietly absorbing

Qualifications:

  • 7+ years building and shipping production software, with deep .NET and C# expertise (ASP.NET Core, Entity Framework Core, async patterns, performance and profiling work)
  • You have been the senior engineer on a pod, squad, or feature team without leaving the keyboard
  • Real experience in a large, mature codebase: refactoring under load, strangler patterns, or extracting services from a monolith
  • Demonstrated integration of LLM-backed features into a shipping product: prompt and context engineering, tool calling, structured outputs, and evidence of how you evaluated the result
  • Azure fluency (AKS, App Service, Service Bus, SQL) and comfort with CI/CD (GitHub, Octopus Deploy or similar)
  • Strong code review instincts; you can articulate why you rejected something, not just that you did
  • Experience in government, healthcare, or another regulated environment is a plus
  • Clear written communication; we will ask for a sample

Key Competencies

  • Explainability at high AI leverage: you use agents aggressively and can still walk any line of the output and justify it
  • Simplicity bias: you delete more than you add, and you can defend what you chose not to build
  • Thinks in the open: you say "I do not understand this yet" early and in writing, before it gets expensive
  • Finishes: you drive ambiguous work through production without a chaperone
  • Makes others better: your review comments are the reason people on your pod improv

What This Role Is NOT

This is not a Scrum Master seat, not a project manager, not a people manager, and not an architect by title. If the coordination is the appeal and the code is the chore, this is not the fit. It is also not an AI research seat: you integrate and operate AI capabilities, you do not train models. And it is not a seat that routes decisions elsewhere. When the pod ships something wrong, the answer to "who owned this" is you.

How We Work

We run an AI-native lifecycle where agents accelerate delivery and humans own judgement, standards, and direction. Work moves through a Plan-and-Review cadence rather than ceremony-heavy Agile. Own what you ship, understand it, and surface uncertainty early.

What We Offer:

  • Medical, dental, and vision insurance plans, with significant employer contributions for employees AND dependents (contributions based on base-level plan; buyup plans available at additional costs)
  • Company-sponsored life + disabilities insurances
  • 11 Paid holidays
  • Flexible time off
  • 401k plan with 4% employer match
  • Monthly stipends for wellness and home office expenses
