Summary of Position

Key member of the Cloud Security team, this role focuses on implementing and managing security controls for Microsoft Azure environments. The Cloud Security Engineer will ensure that Azure cloud technologies are securely integrated, processes are developed and maintained, and systems are continuously monitored and protected against potential threats. This role demands a robust understanding of Azure IaaS, PaaS, and SaaS platforms, with a keen ability to identify and mitigate risks in Azure cloud environments.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with cloud architects, DevOps, application development, and operations teams to identify and drive solutions for Azure security projects and challenges.

  • Define, document, and implement robust security controls for Azure cloud services and workloads.

  • Establish and maintain security monitoring and governance for Azure environments using Microsoft Defender for Cloud, Azure Monitor, and Microsoft Sentinel.

  • Design and implement Azure Policy definitions, initiatives, and governance frameworks aligned with Azure Cloud Adoption Framework.

  • Continuously seek opportunities for automation and process improvements in Azure security operations.

  • Develop and deliver training and awareness programs on Azure security best practices for internal teams.

Qualifications Expected for Position

  • 6+ years of experience in various information security domains, including threat modeling, secure coding, DevOps, and network security.

  • 5+ years experience and deep understanding of cloud security principles with specific expertise in Microsoft Azure platform.

  • Strong knowledge of Azure security services including Microsoft Defender for Cloud, Microsoft Entra ID (Azure AD), Azure Policy, Azure Bastion, Azure Key Vault, Crowdstrike, and Wiz.

  • Experience with Azure network security, NSG’s, ASG’s, Azure Firewall.
     

Preferred Qualifications

  • Expertise in Azure Cloud Adoption Framework (CAF) and Azure Landing Zones implementation.

  • Hands-on experience with Azure identity and access management, including Microsoft Entra ID, Workload Identities, Service Principles

  • Experience with Azure networking security including NSGs, Application Security Groups, Azure Firewall, Azure Front Door, and Virtual Network security.

  • Proficiency with Azure Policy, Azure Blueprints, and policy-as-code implementations for governance.

  • Experience with Microsoft Sentinel (Azure Sentinel) for security information and event management (SIEM) and security orchestration automated response (SOAR).

  • Familiarity with Azure native tools and services (Azure DevOps, Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, Azure Arc).

  • Experience with Infrastructure as Code for Azure (Bicep, ARM Templates, Terraform) and security validation.

  • Knowledge of Azure compliance offerings and regulatory frameworks (Azure Compliance Manager, Azure Policy compliance assessments).

  • Experience with hybrid cloud security and Azure Arc for multi-cloud/on-premises governance.

  • Relevant certifications such as Microsoft Certified: Azure Security Engineer Associate, Azure Solutions Architect Expert, or other cloud security certifications.

  • Proven ability to communicate effectively with diverse stakeholders at varying levels of technical expertise.

  • Demonstrated success in supporting large-scale Azure programs, preferably within a global organization.
