About the Company

We’re working with a Maryland-based commercial electrical and HVAC contracting company with a lean, hands-on team. The company specializes in commercial projects and is looking for a dedicated Estimator who can help strengthen its estimating and bidding process.

This is a great opportunity for someone who understands the U.S. commercial construction market, knows how to build accurate and competitive estimates, and can work independently while staying closely aligned with the client’s team.

Job Summary

We’re looking for a Mid-Level Electrical & HVAC Estimator with at least 3 years of U.S. market estimating experience.

You’ll be responsible for preparing competitive bids and detailed cost estimates for commercial electrical and HVAC projects. You’ll work directly within the client’s systems and collaborate with the team to ensure estimates are accurate, competitive, and aligned with current Maryland/Mid-Atlantic market conditions.

The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, practical, and comfortable taking ownership of the estimating process in a remote environment.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare accurate and competitive estimates and bids for commercial electrical and HVAC projects.

  • Review project plans, specifications, scopes, and other bid documents to determine labor, materials, equipment, and overall project costs.

  • Analyze project requirements and develop pricing appropriate for the Maryland commercial market.

  • Perform quantity takeoffs and cost analysis for electrical and/or HVAC scopes.

  • Work directly within client systems and estimating platforms.

  • Maintain organized and accurate estimating records and pricing information.

  • Collaborate with the client team throughout the estimating and bidding process.

  • Research and apply current market pricing, labor costs, and material costs.

  • Identify potential cost risks, scope gaps, and estimating discrepancies before bids are submitted.

  • Help improve and maintain efficient estimating workflows and processes.

  • Meet deadlines and manage multiple estimates while maintaining a high level of accuracy.

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • 3+ years of estimating experience within the U.S. market.

  • Experience estimating commercial electrical and/or HVAC projects.

  • Strong understanding of U.S. commercial construction practices and pricing.

  • Experience with Maryland or Mid-Atlantic projects is highly preferred.

  • Civil Engineering degree or equivalent hands-on estimating experience.

  • Fluent English with strong written and verbal communication skills.

  • Strong attention to detail and numerical accuracy.

  • Ability to analyze plans, specifications, scopes, and construction documents.

  • Strong understanding of labor, material, and project costing.

  • Able to work independently and take ownership of assigned estimates.

  • Comfortable working remotely while being fully embedded in the client’s systems and processes.

  • Able to work a full-time schedule aligned with Eastern Time.

  • Willingness to complete a paid skills assessment as part of the hiring process.

Tools & Software

Experience with the following is preferred:

  • ServiceTitan

  • McCormick

  • Snap Count

  • Bluebeam

  • PlanSwift

  • Procore

  • On-Screen Takeoff (OST)

Experience with other commercial construction estimating platforms is also welcome.

What Makes You Stand Out

You’ll stand out if you have:

  • A portfolio or work samples showing successful competitive bids and estimates.

  • Proven experience estimating Maryland or Mid-Atlantic commercial projects.

  • Experience with complex commercial electrical systems, HVAC systems, or both.

  • A strong understanding of local market pricing and competitive bidding.

  • A track record of producing accurate estimates under tight deadlines.

  • Experience working directly with U.S.-based contractors or construction companies.

Non-Negotiables

  • Minimum 3 years of U.S. estimating experience.

  • Commercial electrical and/or HVAC estimating experience.

  • Fluent English proficiency.

  • Full-time availability, 40 hours/week.

  • Dedicated to one client during working hours.

  • Ability to work on Eastern Time.

  • Comfortable working remotely and directly within client systems.

  • Willingness to complete a paid skills assessment.

Who Will Thrive in This Role?

This role is best suited for an estimator who is accurate, practical, self-directed, and commercially minded. The client values people who don't simply put numbers together but understand how to build an estimate that is both profitable and competitive in the U.S. market.

If you have hands-on U.S. commercial estimating experience and can confidently own the estimating process from scope review through bid preparation, this could be a strong fit.
