Lead Software Engineer

This is a remote position.

As a Senior Full-Stack Software Engineer at Aspire, you will join the Company Insights and Connections (CIC) team within the Glassdoor organization, driving SEO and growth initiatives through end-to-end feature ownership. You will be responsible for scoping projects, making sound technical decisions, and delivering production-quality code with minimal oversight. You will collaborate directly with a Product Manager and an Engineering Lead as your primary points of contact, navigating ambiguous engineering challenges and balancing speed with quality in a fast-paced Agile environment.

What You'll Do

• Own features end-to-end—from initial design and technical scoping to production deployment and maintenance.
  

• Develop and enhance high-traffic consumer web applications using React, TypeScript, and modern JavaScript.
  

• Build and maintain robust back-end services and APIs using Java and Spring Boot.
  

• Translate ambiguous product requirements into clear, actionable technical solutions and realistic timelines.
  

• Proactively manage scope, make sound technical trade-offs, and negotiate deliverables with Product and Engineering stakeholders.
  

• Collaborate occasionally with UX designers and marketing partners to ensure a seamless user experience.
  

• Maintain high standards for code quality, performance optimization, and accessibility.
  

• Participate in Agile ceremonies and contribute to the continuous improvement of development practices.
  

What You'll Need

• 5+ years of professional experience as a Full-Stack Software Engineer, with a strong emphasis on front-end development.
  

• Strong hands-on experience with React and TypeScript (or modern JavaScript) in a production environment.
  

• Solid back-end development experience with Java and Spring Boot.
  

• Proven ability to independently own features from design through deployment, requiring minimal hand-holding.
  

• Strong experience estimating work, managing scope, and making sound technical trade-offs.
  

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with experience collaborating directly with Product Managers and Engineering Leads.
  

• Experience building and maintaining production-quality web applications in an Agile environment.
  

• Previous experience as a Technical Lead, Lead Engineer, or technical owner for major initiatives.
  

• Experience developing SEO-focused or high-traffic consumer web applications.
  

• Experience collaborating with UX Designers and Marketing teams.
  

• Experience mentoring engineers or providing technical guidance within a team.
  

• Familiarity with performance optimization, accessibility, and web best practices.
  

• Experience with CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and modern development practices.
