Who We’re Looking For

We are not looking for someone who simply wants to “try” writing.

We are looking for someone who understands how fast digital culture moves and wants to build a career turning timely media moments into clear, engaging editorial content.

This 6-month internship is designed for serious, reliable, and creatively sharp individuals who can work closely with our social media team to quickly develop blog posts around trending stories, viral conversations, pop culture moments, lifestyle topics, and the media content we publish.

We are building future Trend Writers, Digital Editors, Content Producers, and Editorial Strategists — not short-term contributors.

The Role

This is a 6-month, unpaid internship designed for academic credit and/or professional development.

The role is remote with flexible structure; however, due to real-time publishing, interns must be available during peak traffic hours:

11:00 AM – 4:00 PM CST | Monday – Friday

Daily assignments are distributed at the start of the shift and must be completed by end of day.

Interns curate and publish 3–5 blog posts per day using:

  • Trending topics
  • Tech 
  • Repurposed Social Media content
  • Pop culture moments
  • Lifestyle features

You will work alongside senior leadership and receive review on your stories to strengthen strategy, tone, and execution.

Responsibilities

Monitor trending entertainment, lifestyle, pop culture, and digital media conversations.

Work closely with the social media team to identify which trending moments should be expanded into quick-turn blog posts.

Draft timely, engaging blog posts based on the media content, social posts, videos, interviews, and cultural moments we publish.

Write sharp headlines, intros, and story angles that make trending topics feel clear, clickable, and aligned with our editorial voice.

Repurpose high-performing social content into short-form articles, recap posts, listicles, and culture-driven blog features.

Research trending topics quickly and accurately to add context, relevance, and credibility to each post.

Source supporting details, media references, links, quotes, and visuals when needed.

Help turn event coverage, interviews, and behind-the-scenes content into timely editorial stories.

Create simple Canva graphics using our templates to support blog and social promotion.

Assist with light short-form video edits or content pulls when needed for article support.

Organize drafts, links, visuals, and content notes so posts can be reviewed, published, and promoted efficiently.

Pitch timely blog ideas that connect trending conversations to our lifestyle, entertainment, media, and culture coverage.

Capture notes, quotes, and social content at select Chicago-based events when applicable.

Participate in weekly mandatory Monday and Wednesday team meetings.

Requirements

Minimum 1 year of experience in digital writing, social media, content creation, journalism, blogging, or digital marketing.

Strong writing skills with the ability to turn trending topics into clear, engaging, publish-ready blog content.

Comfortable writing quickly without sacrificing accuracy, voice, or editorial quality.

Strong understanding of entertainment, pop culture, lifestyle media, social media trends, and digital conversation.

Able to recognize which trending moments have enough relevance, audience interest, or cultural context to become a strong blog post.

Intermediate to advanced Canva proficiency. This is non-negotiable.

Comfortable working with a social media team and building blog content from posts, videos, interviews, events, and trending media moments.

Understands platform voice and can adapt writing for blog, social captions, headlines, and short-form promotional copy.

Able to research, fact-check, and add context quickly.

Comfortable being on camera or willing to grow into occasional on-camera content support.

Able to meet deadlines consistently in a fast-moving content environment.

Strong communication skills and a responsive working style.

Highly organized with the ability to manage drafts, links, notes, visuals, and publishing details.

Able to commit to the full 6-month term.

Preference will be given to candidates in the Chicago area who can occasionally attend events.
