JUNIOR LEGAL PROFESSIONAL
LLB Graduate / Newly Qualified Lawyer

Location: Mauritius
Work arrangement: 100% remote
Employment type: Full-time

ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY

A UK-based legal practice specialising in immigration, public law and human rights is seeking ambitious legal professionals based in Mauritius.

This opportunity is suitable for newly qualified lawyers and LLB graduates who wish to gain international exposure and develop practical experience supporting a UK legal team.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Case Preparation and Documentation

  • Prepare and format witness statements using established templates and instructions.
  • Complete UK immigration application forms using information provided by clients.
  • Organise case documents, including bundling, labelling and filing.
  • Maintain accurate case records, trackers and digital files.
  • Conduct legal research as instructed.
  • Identify and report missing information, inconsistencies or potential risks.

Client Communication

  • Draft professional emails requesting documents or additional information.
  • Conduct structured client calls when required.
  • Provide updates in accordance with instructions from the UK team.
  • Escalate complex or sensitive matters to the supervising legal professional.

Quality and Compliance

  • Follow internal procedures, workflows and documentation standards.
  • Ensure the accuracy, consistency and completeness of case materials.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality.
  • Comply with applicable data-protection requirements.

Team Support and Coordination

  • Work closely with the assigned UK team.
  • Attend virtual meetings and training sessions.
  • Provide regular progress updates.
  • Complete assigned tasks within agreed deadlines.
  • Collaborate with other remote team members as the team develops.

CANDIDATE PROFILE

Applicants must:

  • Hold an LLB degree or be a newly qualified lawyer admitted in Mauritius.
  • Demonstrate outstanding written and spoken English.
  • Have excellent grammar, spelling and drafting abilities.
  • Possess strong legal research and analytical skills.
  • Have excellent organisational and time-management skills.
  • Demonstrate accuracy and strong attention to detail.
  • Be professional, proactive and willing to learn.
  • Be able to work independently and reliably in a remote environment.

Previous experience in UK immigration law, public law, a UK legal practice or remote legal support would be an advantage, but is not essential.

WORKING HOURS
