Job Summary
The purpose of the Territory Sales Representative is to be sales oriented while executing retail strategies and implementing in store merchandising initiatives for The Home Depot and Lowes national accounts. The position serves as a specialist and support for the stores with our offering of Hardware, Fence, Railing and Lattice for the do-it-yourself to professional consumer. They are responsible for discovering and pursuing new sales leads, maintaining customer satisfaction and communicating market intelligence to the account teams. The Home Depot and Lowes internal retail account team’s resources are combined and coordinated with the Retail Sales Team to effectively achieve organizational objectives. This territory will include Virginia and West Virginia.

This is a remote role where the candidate needs to be based in Virginia.
Job Responsibilities
- Develop and foster positive relationships with our national account partners in the following departments: Installers, Lumber/Garden Departments, Pro Desk and Outside Sales Teams. They provide continuous training, field expertise, executes SO product launches, catalog & sampling distribution and submits quotes by referring to price lists and product literature.
- The FRD representative works with the retail partners’ set teams to ensure merchandising integrity and FOS displays. They continue to build relationships with retail set crews and often assist with the installation of the program’s beams, signage and product stocking.
- Monitors competition by gathering current marketplace information on pricing, products, new products, delivery schedules, merchandising techniques, etc. Provides recommendations for changes in products and or services by evaluating results and competitive developments.
- Organizes daily work schedule to call on stores, conduct training and support pro/contractor events. Keeps management informed by submitting activity and results reports, such as daily calls, weekly work plans, in stock product surveys and monthly and annual territory analyses.
- Resolves customer complaints by investigating problems, site visits, developing solutions, working with installers, preparing reports and making recommendations to management.
- Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending sales meetings and reviewing new programs with product managers and comprehensive knowledge of the catalogs.
- Provides historical competitive data and FRD program knowledge by maintaining records on their area and customer sales.
- Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed and supports colleagues in other territories.
- Utilize business applications such as Workday, SuccessFactors, and Salesforce CRM to manage customer interactions, track sales pipelines, maintain accurate data, and support operational objectives.
Job Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in sales, marketing or related discipline preferred; HS degree or equivalent required.
- Minimum of 2 years of retail sales experience required.
- Excellent communication skills (written and verbal). Ability to communicate at all levels of the Lowe's & Depot organization within assigned stores.
- Excellent training skills. Ability to assess competencies of Home Center sales association and tailor training programs to fit individual needs.
- Solid customer service skills.
- Strong negotiating skills.
- Ability to work from remote sites and manage workload.
- Strong and proven accountability focus.
- Excellent computer skills including Windows-based programs.
- This person must be able to lift up 50 pounds.
- Travel up to 70%
Compensation
- Base salary is $58,000 - $65,000
