Position Title: QPR/BSBB Statewide Coordinator (Be Safe, Be Brave for Suicide Prevention)

Status: Full-Time/Non-exempt

Reports To: Community Training Program Manager

Location: This is a hybrid position offering some remote work while requiring regular in-person work at training locations in Oregon and at the Lines for Life office in Portland.

Compensation: The starting salary for this position is $25.50 per hour, plus a 2% differential for living and working from Oregon. Please see below for more details on the compensation package. About the Organization: Lines for Life is a regional non-profit that is dedicated to preventing substance abuse and suicide. We offer help and hope to individuals and communities, and promote mental health for all. Our work addresses a spectrum of needs that include intervention, prevention, and advocacy. We educate, train, and advocate to prevent issues of substance abuse, mental illness, and thoughts of suicide from reaching crisis levels. But when a crisis arises or support is needed, we are available 24/7/365 to intervene with personalized help. 


QPR Statewide Coordinator Position Overview: The QPR (Question, Persuade, and Refer) & BSBB (Be Safe, Be Brave for Suicide Prevention) Statewide Coordinator will provide statewide logistical support and technical assistance statewide for trainings and trainer support to support the achievement of the following goals and objectives: increase access, availability and quality of training programming in Oregon; increase knowledge among youth-serving adults of warning signs of suicide in youth in Oregon; increase confidence and competence of youth-serving adults to intervene when warning signs of suicide are recognize; increase access to suicide prevention curriculum that align with ODE standards for Oregon health classes; and decrease the youth suicide rate in Oregon.


QPR Statewide Coordinator Responsibilities: 

  • Develop a working relationship and coordinate directly with Community Connections Psychological Associates (CCPA) to establish BSBB Training Academy Infrastructure.
  • Develop branded marketing materials and provide educational outreach to increase awareness and acceptability of BSBB as a brand new training to Oregon with the goal of recruiting individuals statewide to become BSBB trainers.
  • Collaborate with Communications and OHA to manage website for QPR and BSBB trainers to increase access to trainer support materials, learning collaboratives, and additional materials.
  • Generate interest in BSBB training academy by collaborating with the Communications department to develop outreach and marketing strategies and to design registration website, recruitment and marketing materials.
  • Track participant recruitment and attendance to ensure the program achieves geographical diversity and reaches target populations.
  • Develop a backend trainer application system for BSBB in partnership with CCPA to identify appropriate applicants.
  • Build and maintain partnerships with community mental health agencies and education service districts across the state to recruit participants and secure training space in target locations.
  • Collaborate with CCPA to manage the development and distribution of new training materials in different languages to increase accessibility of BSBB.
  • Serve as primary liaison between Oregon BSBB trainers and CCPA, providing regular updates on CCPA initiatives and establishing a feedback loop to CCPA from BSBB trainers.
  • Build and maintain BSBB trainer support programming to enable new BSBB trainers to sustainably deliver training across Oregon after attending Training Academy.
  • Develop collaborative relationships and meet regularly with designee from University of Oregon's Suicide Lab.
  • Attend weekly internal progress meetings and organize and participate in external meetings with key partners.
  • Provide ongoing logistical support and technical assistance statewide for trainings and provide trainer support for both BSBB and QPR trainers.
  • Monitor project plan, schedule, communications, budget and expenditures.
  • Facilitate problem-solving to overcome obstacles and ensure deliverables are achieved within the proposed timeline.
  • Facilitate QPR, MHFA, ASIST, BSBB, and, as needed, support the training team in development and delivery of other trainings.


QPR Statewide Coordinator Knowledge and Skill Requirements: 

  • Ability to coordinate large, diverse groups of people
  • Demonstrated success in planning, coordinating, and implementing complex projects
  • Proficiency with web-based communication and/or education platforms
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Attention to detail and ability to present information concisely and effectively, both verbally and in writing
  • Ability to organize and prioritize work
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, flexibility, and ability to work effectively in a team environment
  • Ability to work well with all levels of internal management and staff, as well as outside clients and community partners


QPR Statewide Coordinator Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Current certified QPR trainer or ability to complete QPR T4T within two weeks of hire date. 
  • Bachelor's degree in related field. Master’s degree preferred.
  • Experience planning, organizing, and delivering evidenced-based curriculum
  • Experience in crisis intervention and/or suicide prevention strongly preferred
  • Certified in Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training (ASIST) or certified ASIST trainer preferred


Amount of travel and any other special conditions or requirements: 

  • May require working occasional evenings and weekends to facilitate training needs.
  • Will require occasional travel to deliver training across geographical regions in Oregon.
  • Requires the ability to drive and have reliable transportation.
  • This is a hybrid remote/in-person position requiring weekly commuting to the Portland office.


Compensation: This is a union position with a step progression based upon years of service. Below is the current step scale for the base rate, and each step would have a 2% differential for living and working from Oregon, a $1/hr. bilingual differential for speaking Spanish, and a $2 graduate degree differential (if applicable) added onto pay when applicable:


0-3 years: $25.50


3-5 years: $27.03


5-7 years: $28.65


7-10 years: $30.37


>10 years: $32.19
