Role Overview

The Course Build Developer / QA is a hybrid role responsible for delivering Course Build projects and performing Quality Assurance (QA) activities to ensure all builds meet defined requirements, quality standards, and delivery timelines.

The role primarily works across three Course Build project types: OLA (Online Learning Assessment), CCB (Custom Course Builds), and ECB (External Course Builds). In addition to Course Build responsibilities, the role performs QA testing, identifies and documents defects, validates fixes, and contributes to maintaining consistent build quality.

Key Responsibilities

1. OLA – Online Learning Assessment Builds
Build, configure, and update Online Learning Assessment (OLA) projects based on approved resources,
requirements, and task breakdowns.
• Build and configure formative and summative assessments based on approved resources and
specifications.
• Configure grading, completion requirements, restrictions, and other required assessment
settings.
• Perform build checks to ensure assessments are accurate, functional, and aligned with project
requirements.
• Implement amendments and resolve issues identified during review or QA within agreed
timelines.

2. CCB – Custom Course Builds
Deliver Custom Course Build (CCB) projects based on client-supplied content, branding, requirements,
and agreed specifications.
• Review client requirements and prepare task breakdowns and estimates to support project
quoting and planning.
• Build and configure courses according to approved content, branding, structure, and
functional requirements.
• Perform build checks to ensure the completed course meets the agreed specifications and
quality standards.
• Implement amendments arising from QA or client feedback and complete projects within
agreed timelines.

3. ECB – External Course Builds
Deliver External Course Build (ECB) projects using approved in-house course builds and resources for
external clients.
• Transfer and configure approved course content, assessments, activities, and resources
accurately for external use.
• Ensure the external build remains consistent with the approved source course and agreed
client requirements.
• Validate course access, navigation, assessment behaviour, completion requirements, links,
and other relevant functionality.
• Resolve identified issues and implement required amendments before final release.

4. Course Build Updates and Maintenance
Perform approved updates and changes across OLA, CCB, and ECB projects.
• Update existing builds based on approved change requests, updated resources, or project
requirements.
• Maintain appropriate version control and ensure changes are accurately implemented and
documented.
• Test updated components to confirm changes function correctly without negatively affecting
existing functionality.
• Resolve issues identified during testing or QA and ensure updated builds meet required
quality standards.

5. Quality Assurance and Testing
Perform structured QA testing across OLA, CCB, and ECB projects to ensure builds meet requirements
and established quality standards.
• Conduct functional, regression, content, and configuration testing using established QA
checklists, test cases, and acceptance criteria.
• Verify course content, assessment logic, grading, completion tracking, navigation, links,
resources, and applicable configurations against approved requirements.
• Identify and document defects clearly, including reproduction steps, expected and actual
results, severity, and supporting evidence where required.
• Retest resolved defects, perform regression testing where applicable, and confirm whether
builds meet acceptance criteria for release.

6. Defect Resolution and Quality Improvement
Support continuous improvement of Course Build quality across OLA, CCB, and ECB projects.
• Investigate and resolve Course Build defects within the scope of the role and collaborate with
relevant teams where escalation is required.
• Provide clear and constructive QA feedback to support timely and accurate defect resolution.
• Identify recurring defects, build errors, and process gaps and recommend improvements to
reduce rework.
• Contribute to Course Build standards, QA checklists, testing procedures, and internal
documentation
