Job description

Our client, a IT Services and Consulting company, is looking for a Kafka Developer for their Remote location.
 
Responsibilities:

  • The Kafka Developer role focuses on designing, testing and optimizing data driven geospatial platforms that rely on robust event streaming and service validation.
  • The position involves hybrid work in a day shift environment, delivering stable APIs, Kafka pipelines and integration workflows that support accurate mapping insights for enterprise clients and public users.
  • Design and maintain scalable geospatial data processing solutions that combine spatial datasets with event driven streams to deliver accurate and timely mapping insights for enterprise applications
  • Develop and execute comprehensive API testing strategies that validate functionality performance reliability and security for geospatial services consumed by internal and external stakeholders
  • Build and support Kafka based data pipelines that ingest transform and distribute high volume spatial and non spatial data while maintaining strong data integrity and traceability standards
  • Configure and optimize Kafka Connect connectors to integrate diverse data sources and sinks enabling reliable movement of geospatial and transactional data across distributed systems -Implement robust test automation for APIs using structured test cases reusable scripts and detailed reporting to reduce defects and improve release quality for mapping and location services
  • Collaborate with product owners data engineers and geospatial specialists to translate complex mapping requirements into clear technical solutions that align with business goals and user experience needs
  • Monitor and troubleshoot production Kafka topics API endpoints and geospatial data flows to identify issues proactively and to restore normal service levels with minimal impact on downstream systems
  • Document end to end data flows interface contracts and operational procedures in a clear and reusable manner so that project teams can onboard quickly and maintain consistent delivery practices -Apply strong data quality checks on streaming geospatial feeds and batch inputs to ensure that maps route calculations and spatial analytics remain trustworthy and relevant for end users
  • Optimize performance of geospatial services by tuning queries indexes caching strategies and streaming configurations to reduce latency and improve responsiveness for daily operations
  • Coordinate with site reliability and platform teams to ensure that hybrid deployment environments for APIs Kafka clusters and geospatial applications meet security scalability and compliance expectations -Contribute to continuous improvement by reviewing existing processes identifying automation opportunities and sharing technical best practices that increase efficiency in API testing and event streaming workflows
  • Align daily engineering activities with the organization mission by delivering reliable geospatial solutions that help communities businesses and public institutions make better location informed decisions.
 
Requirements:
  • Experience: 6 to10 Yrs
  • Required Skills: Kafka Connect, API testing, Kafka
  • Possess a bachelors degree or higher in computer science geoinformatics information technology or a related discipline with significant exposure to distributed systems and data engineering concepts -Bring between six and ten years of professional experience working in software engineering or data engineering roles with a focus on building and maintaining production grade geospatial or data intensive platforms
  • Demonstrate strong hands on proficiency in API testing using tools such as Postman REST client or similar frameworks along with skills in designing test cases writing assertions and analyzing response data
  • Show solid practical experience with Kafka including topic design consumer group configuration partitioning and monitoring so that streaming solutions remain scalable and resilient in hybrid environments -Exhibit proven experience with Kafka Connect configuration and management including development or customization of connectors to integrate databases file systems and message brokers into streaming architectures
  • Display familiarity with geospatial concepts such as coordinate reference systems spatial indexing and map tiling along with practical experience using geospatial libraries or platforms in production projects -Utilize scripting or programming skills in languages such as Python Java or similar to automate tests orchestrate data pipelines and implement reusable components that support continuous delivery -Apply working knowledge of hybrid cloud or on premises environments including container or virtualization tools to deploy and operate Kafka clusters API services and geospatial components effectively
  • Demonstrate strong analytical and problem solving abilities with the capacity to investigate data discrepancies performance issues or integration failures and to implement targeted corrective actions
  • Communicate effectively with technical and non technical partners using clear documentation concise status updates and structured discussions that support shared understanding of geospatial solutions -Embrace secure development and operations practices by following organizational standards for authentication authorization data protection and logging within APIs Kafka pipelines and geospatial services
  • Value inclusive teamwork by collaborating respectfully within cross functional squads and by supporting knowledge sharing so that collective expertise enhances the quality and impact of mapping solutions
