Job description

At Compass, our mission is to help everyone find their place in the world. Founded in 2012, we’re revolutionizing the real estate industry with our end-to-end platform that empowers residential real estate agents to deliver exceptional service to seller and buyer clients.

As a Commission Specialist, you will be an integral member of our dynamic and growing Transaction Management team and will assume responsibility for reconciling and processing commissions for sales, rental, and referral real estate closings, for our New York and Connecticut market. The Commission Specialist role involves collaborating within our team to support compliance and commission aspects of the listings, transaction, and commission process. You will play a critical role in the day-to-day operations of the company, interacting daily with agents and the Transaction Management and Accounting teams.

Please note: This position is required to work out of one of the following Compass offices located at 110 5th Avenue one day, every other week, and expected to visit other New York/CT offices occasionally for special events if needed. Compass values in-person connection. While this department is currently working within a hybrid attendance policy, we ask employees to prioritize visiting local offices where they may find value in connecting with their colleagues and customers in person more regularly. You will be expected to comply with your department’s schedule, as outlined by your hiring manager. Please note that the department's current policy is subject to change in the future.

At Compass You Will:

  • Handle document tracking for a large volume of real estate transactions from listing to close, and/or contract to close, ensuring compliance with brokerage and legal requirements
  • Ensure real estate contracts are processed properly and in a timely matter, with a focus on the details
  • Navigate company systems to validate accuracy of compliance and commission records
  • Provide support to Agents in response to inquiries regarding commission payouts, deductions, and commission calculations
  • Collaborate with sales managers and other support teams to offer outstanding support to the agents
  • Process commission payments to agents, while tracking referral payments and agent deductions
  • Work closely with accounting to review and audit commission records in the accounting system
  • Collaborate with sales managers and other support teams to offer outstanding support to the agents
  • Partner with the Accounting team to research and respond to commissions inquiries impacting the monthly financial statement close
  • Collaborate with the Product & Engineering Team to help us build a better real estate transaction system

What We Look For:

  • 2+ years of experience in a real estate transaction-processings function, accounting, finance, or payroll function preferred
  • Strong teamwork skills and ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality of agent’s contract data
  • Work independently and collaboratively in a team environment
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong written, quantitative, verbal, and presentation skills
  • Proficient in Excel and G-Suite platforms
  • Impeccable attention to detail and solid customer service instincts
  • Be comfortable with new system rollouts
  • BA or BS degree
