Job description

The Data and Impact Reporting Team (DIRT) works to ensure the Patient Support Pillar is gathering and communicating data in a way that provides meaningful insight into progress against our mission to improve the lives of people with cancer and their families. The Senior Analyst oversees restricted funds administration and financial planning, provides analytical and strategic support to the team, and maintains reporting tools and resources to support informed decision-making. This position requires strong project and people management skills, financial, quantitative, and qualitative data analysis expertise, a willingness to learn, and a commitment to helping the American Cancer Society (ACS) reduce the burden of cancer for people with cancer and their families.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Develops methodology and leads ongoing tracking of spending across a broad portfolio of restricted funding, including monitoring spenddown plans, in collaboration with Business Operations and other internal partners, and oversees the development of annual spending plans for new incoming funds. 40%
  • Supports financial, quantitative, qualitative data analysis across a portfolio of key programs. 30%
  • Working with the Director, Insights & Visualization and other internal partners, creates and maintains a suite of Power BI and/or Excel-based reporting resources that communicate financial considerations to internal audiences. 25%Proactively identifies opportunities to improve systems, processes, and workflows. 5%

EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum Degree Required: Bachelor's Degree
  • Preferred Degree: Master's Degree
  • Certificate(s) or License(s): Business or nonprofit management, data management, analytics, or related field where data management and analysis are required professional skills.
  • Years of experience: Five to seven years of professional experience working in program, project, or grant management roles with a focus on financial data and process improvement.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITY:

  • Strong knowledge of the grants management lifecycle.
  • Strong business and financial acumen and analytical thinking skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage, clean, and analyze financial, quantitative, and qualitative data.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills required, especially the ability to communicate diplomatically and persuasively in a virtual environment. 
  • Strong customer-service orientation and positive, can-do attitude. 
  • Flexible mindset and comfort with ambiguity and evolving priorities.
  • Ability to learn new technologies and industry best practices in a rapidly changing environment.
  • High degree of self-motivation.
  • Exacting attention to detail.

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Periodic (twice annually) travel required.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Work is conducted within a virtual or in-person office environment.

The starting rate is $84,000 to $89,633. The final candidate's relevant experience/skills will be considered before an offer is extended. Actual starting pay will vary based on non-discriminatory factors including, but not limited to, geographic location, experience, skills, specialty, and education.
