Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Application Support & Development Engineer to support, maintain, and enhance enterprise applications used across Health Sciences, Translational Sciences, and Development organizations. The ideal candidate will have strong experience in application support, database administration, Azure infrastructure, managed services oversight, production support, and technical solution assessment. This role will collaborate with Architecture, Infrastructure, Security, IAM, and business teams to ensure reliable application operations and successful onboarding of new technologies.
Must Have Technical/Functional Skills
8–18 years of experience in Application Support, Application Development, or Production Support
Strong experience with enterprise application maintenance, troubleshooting, and enhancements
Hands-on experience with database administration, installation, configuration, and upgrades
Azure infrastructure experience (Azure Portal, Storage, File Shares, Backup, Connectivity)
Experience with application onboarding, release management, and production support
Technical solution assessment and architecture review experience
Knowledge of Infrastructure, Security, IAM, and enterprise application standards
Experience managing vendors and managed service providers
Strong incident management and production support (P1/P2 issue resolution)
Experience creating technical documentation, runbooks, and operational procedures
Excellent stakeholder communication and cross-functional collaboration skills
Preferred experience supporting scientific applications, bioinformatics, protein analysis, mass spectrometry, or scientific data management platforms
Roles & Responsibilities
Lead managed services operations for applications supporting Translational Sciences and Development.
Provide hands-on application administration, troubleshooting, configuration, upgrades, and production support.
Install, configure, patch, deploy, and validate enterprise applications and databases.
Coordinate Azure infrastructure activities, including application servers, storage, networking, backups, and environment readiness.
Support scientific and research applications used across business units.
Assess new application requests and recommend appropriate technology solutions.
Prepare technical documentation and presentations for Technology Solution Board reviews.
Collaborate with Enterprise Architecture, Infrastructure, Security, and IAM teams for application onboarding.
Coordinate production deployments, vulnerability remediation, and operational readiness activities.
Manage incidents, troubleshoot production issues, and support critical business applications.
Automate user provisioning and de-provisioning processes where applicable.
Develop and maintain support documentation, operational runbooks, and knowledge base articles.
Monitor vendor performance, SLA compliance, incident trends, and continuous service improvements.
Communicate project status, technical risks, and operational updates to stakeholders and leadership.
