Job description

The Opportunity

Acorns, the financial wellness app, is building a new Community product team from scratch. This is a small, senior group with a single mandate: Get people addicted to saving by unlocking network effects inside Acorns. This team understands how to create engagement loops, virality, and habit formation. We want people who’ve mastered those mechanics and are ready to use them for something that improves people’s lives.

As the Senior Product Manager on this team, you’ll own the product strategy and roadmap for Acorns’ Community surface. Your job is to identify, prioritize, and ship the engagement and growth mechanics that get people hooked on saving and drive organic acquisition at scale. You’ll set the direction, define the bets, and be accountable for the metrics that prove the Community product is working.

You’ll report directly to the CEO,and work with a Senior Product Designer and a Senior engineering team to design the engagement loops, social sharing mechanics, and habit-forming experiences that drive organic growth at Acorns.

This is end-to-end ownership from early concept through shipped product on features that will reach millions of people who are often investing for the first time.

The Impact You’ll Make

  • Define and drive the Community product roadmap, with a relentless focus on engagement loops, viral growth, and network effects that spread Acorns organically across the country

  • Own the metrics that matter - DAU, sharing behavior, referral rates, retention, habit formation - and be accountable for moving them

  • Build a rigorous experimentation practice from scratch: define hypotheses, instrument correctly, learn fast, and scale what works

  • Turn user insights, competitive signals, and data into a prioritized backlog of high-confidence bets that the team can move on immediately

  • Communicate clearly to partnering teams and be the connective tissue between the Community team and the broader Acorns organization

Some Things You’ve Likely Done in the Past

  • Owned growth or engagement products at a social, gaming, or high-growth consumer company and can point to specific features that moved DAU, retention, or viral coefficients

  • Worked with k-factor, referral loops, engagement mechanics, or social graph features at a practitioner level

  • Run A/B experiments end-to-end: defined the hypothesis, instrumented the test, read the results, and made the call

  • Written SQL to pull your own data rather than waiting on an analyst

  • Shipped a product or feature from ambiguous brief to live in market on a small team with limited resources

  • Made a case to leadership for a bet that wasn’t obvious, and been right

What we offer:

  • Competitive salary and stock options

  • A comprehensive benefits package for you and your family

  • Flexible work location, hours, and paid time off

  • 401(k) matching

  • Monthly Acorns account contribution & GoHenry account for your family

  • Mindfulness and Financial Wellness resources, Headspace and Addition Wealth

  • Acorns Career Development Program (Ongoing training sessions, development plans, development check-ins, Cornerstone’s online training platform)

  • Roots Leadership Program for Emerging Leaders

  • Community week onsite gatherings and various virtual events

  • Talented and motivated team members who care deeply about one another, our mission, and our customers.

  • The rare opportunity to create a new world. We inspire one another every day to do meaningful work that solves big societal challenges.
