Job description

MedVet is the leading veterinarian owned and led network of specialty and emergency hospitals and dedicated to delivering exceptional care and a deeply supportive experience to pets and their loving families, referring veterinarians, and our team members.

The Staff Accountant is responsible for calculating and processing doctor’s payroll, monthly revenue journal entries and doctor pay analysis. Will provide crucial analysis of compensation to Medical Directors and leadership. The Staff Accountant will also assist with month end close and financial reporting as needed.

This is a hybrid role with 3 days in our Worthington, OH office and 2 days work from home.

Main Accountability: 

  • Timely and accurate calculation of revenue and payment of doctors 

General Functions: 

  • Calculate doctor’s compensation on different pay models
  • Process doctor’s payroll on a monthly and semi-monthly basis
  • Payroll journal entries
  • Monthly revenue journal entries
  • Monthly account reconciliations
  • Compile compensation and revenue analysis reports
  • Research fluctuations in revenue and payroll
  • Assist with month end close
  • Analyze revenue to payroll
  • Maintain and review monthly doctor’s analysis report for leadership
  • Assist with new hospital integrations
  • Respond to doctor compensation inquiries
  • Process Improvement of doctor payroll process
  • Perform other duties as requested 

Our ideal candidate has a Bachelor’s degree in Finance or Accounting with up to 3 years of experience or graduates with relevant internships, projects, or training will be considered.   Strong Excel skills necessary.  Experience in the Medical or Veterinary industry is a plus. Experience with Intacct is a plus. In addition, this position requires:

  • Highly professional, strong work ethic, and integrity
  • Must be competent utilizing Microsoft Office programs including MSWord, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.
  • Must have thorough knowledge of Excel to be able to work with complicated formulas and graphs
  • Analytical
  • Highly organized and detail oriented
  • Critical thinking and problem solving
  • Strong written and verbal communication
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to learn quickly and leverage past experiences when faced with new problems; demonstrates good judgment and decision-making skills
  • Ability to work well with people at all levels of the organization
