Graduate Architectural Assistant / Junior Architectural Technician — Remote
Location: Remote from South Africa
Reports to: Project Architect
The opportunity
Our client, an established architectural practice, is seeking a Graduate Architectural
Assistant or Junior Architectural Technician to join its team on a remote basis.
Working under the supervision of a Project Architect, the successful candidate will support
projects from the initial design stage through planning, Building Regulations and, where
required, construction.
This opportunity would suit a recent architecture graduate, Part 1 Architectural Assistant or
junior architectural technician with strong AutoCAD and Revit skills who is looking to develop
their design and technical experience.
Key responsibilities
● Translate concept sketches into accurate 2D AutoCAD drawings and 3D Revit
models.
● Prepare drawing packages for planning applications.
● Develop planning drawings into Building Regulations and construction drawings.
● Produce clear and visually engaging diagrams, graphics and presentation materials.
● Assist with client, planning and Building Regulations submission packages.
● Research relevant planning policies, Building Regulations and building products.
● Help compile supporting reports, specifications and appendices.
● Attend virtual project meetings, take notes and record agreed actions.
● Work closely with the Project Architect to deliver work accurately and on time.
Essential requirements
● A degree or relevant qualification in architecture, architectural technology or a related
discipline.
● Strong working knowledge of AutoCAD and Revit.
● Good technical drawing and design presentation skills.
● Strong written and verbal communication.
● Excellent organisation and attention to detail.
● Ability to manage tasks effectively while working remotely.
● An interest in developing knowledge of UK planning requirements and Building
Regulations.
Desirable skills and experience
● Experience using Rhino or SketchUp.
● Knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite, particularly Photoshop.
● Experience preparing UK planning or Building Regulations submissions.
● An understanding of construction methods and building products.
● Previous experience within an architectural practice.
Remote working
The successful candidate will be comfortable working independently while maintaining
regular communication with the Project Architect and wider team. They will be expected to
attend online meetings, manage deadlines and collaborate effectively within a remote-
working environment.
