This is a remote position.
Establish and manage the Software Asset Management process aligned with ITIL, ITAM, and ISO 19770 standards.
Ensure accurate tracking of software entitlements, usage, and installations through SAM tools (e.g., ServiceNow SAM Pro, Flexera, Snow Software).
Define and enforce policies, standards, and governance for license usage, renewals, and vendor compliance.
Partner with procurement and finance teams to align license purchasing with budget, cost optimization, and forecasting.
Collaborate with IT operations to ensure software deployment and retirement follow compliance requirements.
Monitor, analyze, and report on license utilization, compliance gaps, and cost savings opportunities.
Manage relationships with software vendors and auditors, ensuring contract compliance and successful negotiation outcomes.
Support internal and external audits, ensuring data accuracy and regulatory compliance.
Partner with Service Request, Change, and Configuration Management to align SAM with broader ITSM processes and CMDB integrity.
Drive automation and continuous improvement in software tracking, compliance checks, and reporting.
Act as the primary escalation point for SAM-related risks, disputes, or audit issues.
Champion a governance-driven culture, ensuring SAM processes deliver value, transparency, and accountability.
IT Service Management (ITSM)
Support the governance and maturity of ITSM processes, especially where they intersect with Software Asset Management.
Partner with Configuration and Change Management to ensure software license and entitlement records remain accurate in the CMDB during deployments and upgrades.
Collaborate with Incident and Problem Management to leverage software asset data for compliance checks, troubleshooting, and root cause analysis.
Provide ITSM reporting and insights on software license usage, compliance status, cost optimization, and audit readiness.
Enforce policy, security, and regulatory compliance across the software asset lifecycle, from procurement to retirement.
Promote ITIL and ITAM best practices to drive consistency, risk reduction, and efficiency across the IT service lifecycle.
Required Skills & Competencies
Strong knowledge of ITIL 4 and ITAM frameworks, with deep expertise in Software Asset Management.
Proven experience in managing software licensing models (Microsoft, Oracle, SAP, IBM, Adobe, etc.).
Knowledge of contract negotiation, vendor management, and audit readiness for large enterprise software vendors.
Strong analytical and reporting skills to track compliance, usage, and cost optimization KPIs.
Excellent stakeholder and vendor management skills with the ability to engage in IT, procurement, finance, and legal teams.
Governance-focused mindset, ensuring policy enforcement, risk reduction, and audit success.
Hands-on experience with advanced MS Excel & Power-Point.
Qualifications
Bachelorβs degree in Information Technology (IT), Computer Science, or related discipline (or equivalent experience).
6-9 years of IT Service Management experience, with at least 4β6 years in a dedicated Software Asset Management role.
ITIL Foundation certification required; advanced ITIL or ITAM certifications (IAITAM, CSAM, CITAM, or ServiceNow SAM Pro certification) strongly preferred
