McKesson’s Strategic Finance team is seeking a Director of M&A Finance to play a critical role in shaping the company’s long-term growth and capital deployment strategy. This is a high-visibility individual contributor opportunity for a seasoned finance leader who thrives at the intersection of strategy, valuation, and executive decision-making.

In this role, the Director will serve as a trusted financial partner to senior leadership, providing rigorous analysis and clear insights that directly influence McKesson’s mergers, acquisitions, and capital allocation decisions. From leading enterprise-level valuation work to guiding due diligence and preparing Board-level materials, this role will have a tangible impact on the future of a Fortune 10 organization.

The Director of M&A Finance will support the company’s efforts to drive financial and strategic decisions at McKesson, including financial evaluation of M&A opportunities, capital deployment, and competitive analysis of the industry.

Position Description:

  • Lead the creation of valuation analyses for M&A opportunities and capital deployment decisions, using discounted cash flow models and other relevant valuation methodologies.

  • Create and maintain driver-based operating models to assess business performance, strategic alternatives, and transaction assumptions.

  • Actively manage the M&A due diligence process by coordinating with Corporate Finance functions and cross-functional partners to identify key financial risks and opportunities related to a transaction.

  • Develop a strong understanding of transaction documents, including the impact of negotiations on potential financial risk to the business, and articulate those implications internally.

  • Communicate key operating and valuation drivers to senior leadership, highlighting the overall impact on McKesson and the enterprise investment thesis.

  • Own the preparation of financial schedules and supporting analysis included in M&A presentations to Senior Leadership and the Board of Directors.

  • Review valuation analyses for capital deployment developed by the business and assist in the preparation of capital presentations for Senior Leadership and the Board.

  • Develop relationships with relevant internal stakeholders across the enterprise, including business units, Corporate Development, Corporate Strategy and Business Development, and other corporate functions.

  • Perform other ad hoc financial, strategic, and transaction-related analyses as needed.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Relevant degree; typically requires 10 years of professional experience, including 5+ years of valuation, M&A, or transaction advisory experience.

Critical Skills

  • Capability to coordinate multiple projects simultaneously with minimal direction, interact with business units throughout the organization, and present deal results and status effectively to senior leadership.

  • Strong collaboration skills with the ability to work successfully with key stakeholders across functional areas; must be a problem solver, persistent, and goal-oriented.

  • Financial reporting knowledge, including income statement, balance sheet, cash flow statement, net working capital, and capital expenditures.

  • Ability to apply financial and strategic analysis to companies, including publicly traded competitors and other companies of strategic interest.

  • Exceptional financial modeling skills, including weighted average cost of capital calculation, discounted cash flow modeling, market multiple analysis, leveraged buyout analysis, and other valuation-related methodologies.

  • Exceptional verbal communication skills, with the ability to deliver clear and concise messages to senior leadership.

  • Strong written communication skills, including the ability to concisely summarize key trends and analyses for management and other key stakeholders.

  • Excellent PC skills with a solid working knowledge of Excel and PowerPoint.

  • Experience using Capital IQ preferred.
