Job description

Join the company that’s building the telemetry infrastructure for the AI era. At Cribl, we partner with IT and Security teams at many of the world’s biggest enterprises, including half of the Fortune 100, to bridge the gap between AI ambition and infrastructure reality. As the AI Platform for Telemetry, we give customers the choice, control, and flexibility to manage and analyze telemetry for both humans and agents, so they can build what’s next.

We’re one of the fastest‑growing private companies and a leading player in a massive, fast‑moving market. With a global workforce, we’re remote‑first and grounded in a simple idea: software is a people business. Cribl is the place where curious, collaborative people can do their best work, grow fast, and bring their full selves to the herd.

Why You’ll Love This Role

We are seeking a proactive and pragmatic Technical Revenue Manager to join our finance team. In this individual contributor role, you will serve as our ASC 606 subject matter expert, authoring the positions and policies that let new offerings launch on a compliant, scalable footing. The ideal candidate has deep ASC 606 expertise, strong technical writing skills, and sound practical judgment.

As An Active Member Of Our Team, You Will…

  • Cross-Functional Partnership and Policy Design: Partner with Product Management, Sales, Enterprise Applications, Legal, and Deal Desk during the inception phase of new product initiatives to assess revenue recognition positioning under ASC 606. This role is responsible for authoring and formally documenting the revenue accounting policies and technical position papers that establish the compliant framework for new offerings prior to launch, and for sharing that guidance with the teams who need to apply it.
  • Technical Accounting Papers: Research, resolve, and write technical revenue position papers documenting the accounting conclusions and economic substance of complex, non-routine transactions and corporate acquisitions.
  • Commercial Structure Evaluation: Evaluate emerging commercial structures, consumption-based billing models, multi-element packaging terms, and evolving deployment models to determine the appropriate accounting treatment and performance obligations (POBs), providing strategic recommendations to ensure compliance with ASC 606.
  • Process Optimization and Cross-Functional Leadership: Lead cross-functional initiatives to scale technical revenue processes, and translate insights into system and policy recommendations that drive automation, minimize launch friction, and improve accounting efficiency.
  • Audit and SOX: Serve as a primary contact for technical revenue matters with our external auditors. Prepare defensible support packages for the positions you document, respond to inquiries, and maintain appropriate SOX control documentation for the processes you own.
  • Close and Reporting Support: As needed, support the revenue team's month-end and quarterly close execution and reporting, including revenue reporting and flux analysis.
  • Ad Hoc Projects: Support ad hoc technical accounting requests and finance initiatives as they arise, including consulting on merger and acquisition activity and other cross-functional projects where revenue accounting judgment is needed.
  • We are a remote-first company and work happens across many time-zones – you may be required to occasionally perform duties outside your standard working hours

If You’ve Got It - We Want It

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Active CPA license.
  • 5+ years of relevant accounting experience with at least 2+ years of Technical Revenue experience.
  • Deep, practical ASC 606 expertise applied to multi-element, consumption-based, and hybrid arrangements. Direct experience with standalone selling price, performance obligation identification, variable consideration, material rights, contract modifications, and principal versus agent analysis.
  • Demonstrated technical accounting research and writing skills. This role is documentation-heavy, and you should be able to point to position papers and policies you have authored that held up under audit and management review.
  • Judgment about scope. You can take a set of commercial facts, identify what actually drives the conclusion, and reach a defensible answer without over-analyzing.
  • Proven ability to influence without direct authority and to explain technical accounting concepts to people who do not have an accounting background.
  • Experience with revenue controls and supporting external audits in a SOX environment.
  • Advanced Excel skills and experience with NetSuite and Salesforce. NetSuite ARM experience is a plus.
  • Genuine interest in applying AI and automation to finance operations, with some practical experience doing so.
  • Prior Public Accounting experience with regards to Revenue (ASC 606) preferred
  • Exposure to merger and acquisition diligence or post-close revenue integration.
  • Proficiency with generative AI tools to enhance daily productivity and workflow efficiency a plus
