Job description

Job Description:

At Innovative Captive Strategies (ICS), we are leveraging artificial intelligence to transform how work gets done, improve business outcomes, and create smarter, more efficient experiences across our organization. We are seeking a talented and forward-thinking AI Engineer to design, develop, and implement AI-enabled solutions that drive innovation, support intelligent automation, and advance responsible AI adoption. In this hands-on role, you will partner with business and technology teams to identify opportunities, build impactful solutions, and help shape the governance, measurement, and management of AI technologies across the enterprise. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in ICS's AI journey while delivering meaningful business value through emerging technology.

This role is on-site in Waukee, IA and not a remote role.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, and implement AI-enabled solutions that improve business processes, support intelligent automation, and advance enterprise technology objectives.
  • Prototype, configure, test, and refine AI solutions, serving as a hands-on engineer throughout the solution lifecycle.
  • Partner with business stakeholders and IT teams to identify opportunities, define requirements, and prioritize AI initiatives that deliver measurable value.
  • Evaluate business and technical needs and translate them into secure, scalable, and sustainable AI solution designs.
  • Develop and implement AI-powered capabilities, including document intelligence, AI-assisted workflows, retrieval-based solutions, and AI agents.
  • Lead AI agent governance efforts, including lifecycle management, configuration, access controls, usage monitoring, and compliance with organizational standards.
  • Establish and maintain AI adoption and usage reporting, including dashboards and metrics that measure business impact, value, and risk.
  • Collaborate with developers, analysts, data teams, infrastructure teams, and security stakeholders to deliver effective and compliant AI solutions.
  • Conduct testing, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement activities to ensure solution quality, performance, and reliability.
  • Research, evaluate, and recommend emerging AI technologies, tools, and best practices to strengthen organizational capabilities and innovation.

Qualifications:

  • Must be able to be on-site in Waukee, IA
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data, Engineering, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • Experience: 5–7 years’ experience in business solutions, application development, or related technical capacity, including implementation, solution analysis and design, and solution delivery. Experience building or implementing AI-enabled solutions, experience with Agile/Scrum and rapid prototyping methodologies, and exposure to AI governance, agent management, or AI measurement and reporting preferred. Insurance or financial services industry experience is a plus.
  • Skills: Ability to partner with IT Business Partners and business stakeholders to translate business needs into clearly scoped, compliant, and value-driven AI-enabled solutions, even in ambiguous environments.
  • Strong understanding of business processes, organizational functions, and core enterprise technology domains (application, data, integration, security, and network), with working knowledge of SDLC methodologies and solution development practices.
  • Hands-on capability to design, build, test, refine, and troubleshoot AI-enabled solutions, including document intelligence, AI-assisted workflows, human-in-the-loop validation, retrieval-based approaches, intelligent workflow design, and AI agents.
