Job description

The AI Developer will design, develop, and integrate artificial intelligence solutions in support of ITA’s mission through the AI Center of Excellence (AI‑CoE). This role emphasizes hands‑on development of AI models, data analysis, and the integration of AI capabilities into production systems within a secure federal IT environment. The ideal candidate will work collaboratively with cross‑functional teams to deliver scalable, high‑quality AI solutions that directly support mission‑driven objectives.
*Position is contingent upon contract award.*

Responsibilities

  • Design and develop artificial intelligence models, algorithms, and applications to address mission‑driven challenges.
  • Preprocess, analyze, and manage large datasets in collaboration with data, engineering, and product teams.
  • Implement and maintain machine learning and deep learning frameworks.
  • Fine‑tune and optimize AI models to improve performance, scalability, and accuracy.
  • Integrate AI models into enterprise and cloud‑based production systems.
  • Document code, models, algorithms, and development processes in accordance with organizational standards.
  • Support testing, deployment, and ongoing operations and maintenance of AI solutions.
  • Participate in SAFe Agile ceremonies, including sprint planning, reviews, and retrospectives.
  • Stay current with emerging AI technologies, tools, frameworks, and industry best practices.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • U.S. Citizenship (required).
  • MUST possess a NACI or higher background investigation.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Minimum of eight (8) years of professional experience.
  • Demonstrated experience developing artificial intelligence or machine learning solutions.
  • Proficiency in at least one AI/ML programming framework.
  • Experience working with large datasets and applying data preprocessing techniques.
  • Familiarity with Agile development methodologies.

Desired Qualifications
  • Master’s degree in Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, or a related field.
  • Experience integrating AI models into enterprise or production systems.
  • Experience working in cloud‑based AI development environments.
  • Knowledge of DevOps and/or MLOps practices.
  • Experience supporting federal government or public sector IT programs.
  • Familiarity with application security, compliance, and secure development requirements.
  • Experience using Azure DevOps or similar delivery management tools.

Work Location

  • Remote work preferred, with occasional on‑site support in Washington, DC, as required.
