Position Overview 

The Preventative Maintenance Technician is responsible for providing the service and support necessary to maintain equipment for 45-65 retail coffeehouses in a first-class condition through preventative maintenance installations and repair support. 

 

You will thrive in this role by anticipating and troubleshooting the equipment as necessary to provide a quality product in our coffeehouses. You will be successful in this role if you are eager to learn new things. This requires proactive planning, problem solving, attention to detail, and ability to work independently 

 

Core Responsibilities: 

Perform preventative maintenance on equipment within Company-owned retail coffeehouses 

  • Complete regularly scheduled preventative maintenance on equipment including espresso/brewing, HVAC and refrigeration. This includes, but is not limited to: 
  • Responsible for independently managing scheduling based on needs of the business 
  • Tracking and maintaining equipment data 
  • Evaluate equipment to assess for repairs or replacement as needed 
  • Provide trouble shooting support for store operations on equipment issues 
  • Provide direct service support to the retail stores for repair and maintenance needs for day-to-day operations as well as emergency needs 
  • Install and de-install equipment 
  • Coordinate repairs through 3rd party service providers identified during scheduled maintenance 

 

Identify repair trends and issues through partnership with Store Operations leadership 

  • Report issues and finding to Facilities leadership to identify next steps 
  • Adapt communication to the store leadership to ensure partnership is effectively maintained 
  • Constructively address problems and issues as they arise to find acceptable and practical solutions based on knowledge of the company's best practices 

 

Inventory control and management 

  • Transport products as needed to and from supplier, storage and coffee house. 
  • Maintain spare parts inventory and orders parts as required 

 

Skills and Requirements: 

  • Excellent customer service skills 
  • Strong management capabilities to maintain control of activities of contractors, suppliers, job supervisors and numerous projects 
  • Proven ability to solve problems, perform data analytics, think critically, and make timely decisions 
  • Excel in a fast paced, results oriented, and dynamic environment; flexible and can respond quickly and effectively to business issues 
  • Highly motivated, able to prioritize multiple tasks, organize work to meet deadlines and multiple requests 

 

Qualifications: 

Required:  

  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience servicing restaurant equipment (experience with espresso and brewing equipment is a plus) as well as experience maintaining mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems 
  • Knowledgeable/experienced with restaurant/food service equipment as well as mechanical, electrical and plumbing building systems 
  • Valid driver’s license 
  • Maintain a good driving record in accordance with company’s driver policy 
  • Ability to travel 40-50% of the time 
  • Willingness to work overtime as needed 

 

Preferred:  

  • Certification in refrigeration 

 

Physical Requirements: 

The physical demands for this position are sits, stands, bends, and lifts/carries up to 150lbs, handling up to 300lbs, climb ladders, accesses equipment and moves continually during working hours. These physical requirements must be accomplished with or without reasonable accommodations.

Compensation Range:

$27.31 - $45.52 per hour

*Starting pay is subject to Local and State Minimum Wage regulations.

**Ranges reflect what employer reasonably and in good faith expects to pay for such position.

The physical demands for this position are reaching, lifting up to 50 pounds, sitting, standing, for 4 to 8 hours, bending, and moving intermittently during working hours. These physical demands may be accomplished with or without reasonable accommodations.
