What youβll be doing
Representing the interests of Workplace pension members and drawdown investment pathway investors at IGC meetings, and affirming or challenging senior management decisions which may impact the value for money they receive.
Attending approximately six full meetings and eight short meetings per year (based on 2025/26) and completing preparation and follow up work relating to each meeting, such as reading and report writing.
Assisting in writing and producing the IGC annual report, which will include the value for money assessment of the Workplace SIPP and drawdown investment pathways, and how the IGC has complied with its duty to act in membersβ interests.
Joining IGC members in considering whether to escalate any identified concerns to the HLAM Board and, if necessary, to the FCA.

About you
As a member of HLβs IGC, you will have:
Expert knowledge of the workplace pensions, investment, drawdown and the pre/ at retirement marketplace as a whole
Expert knowledge of FCA regulations, specifically those that relate to workplace pensions, drawdown and areas relating to IGC responsibilities
Experience as a member of a Board, Committee or other relevant governance role
Excellent communication, listening and questioning skills
Excellent data analysis skills and a high level of attention to detail
Role model cultural awareness and collaborative skills
Ability to make swift, well informed and rational decisions
Confident and professional when interacting with Committee members and HL colleagues at all levels
Strong understanding of the needs of Workplace pension scheme members and drawdown pathways investors
Willingness to learn and develop knowledge and skills
Interview process
The interview process will include two formal stages following initial suitability screening. Skills and experience will be considered alongside those prevalent within the existing committee membership.
Working schedule
This is a paid independent committee membership role. The initial term of the contract will be three years.
The role will require flexibility and time capacity to adequately fulfil all professional and regulatory responsibilities as outlined.
Travel to our Bristol head office (next to Temple Meads Station) to attend IGC meetings will be required. At the discretion of the Chair, some meetings are held via Teams web conferencing.
