Job description

The Associate Director, Finance – Revenue & Reporting is a Limited Appointment position for a period of up to 36 months, overseeing revenue‑related business processes and financial reporting. This role is responsible for ensuring accurate revenue recognition and timely, and well‑controlled financial information through strong governance, effective cross‑functional collaboration, and continuous operational improvement. The position plays a lead role in the revenue and reporting workstreams of finance system implementations and enhancements, ensuring that revenue accounting and reporting solutions are aligned with business needs and accounting standards.

Your New Role:

  • Serve as the subject matter expert in U.S. GAAP ASC 606, interpreting and applying new accounting standards and supporting the development, communication, and enforcement of global US GAAP accounting policies

  • Lead and document revenue recognition assessments for new and existing products under ASC 606, including the identification of performance obligations, evaluation of transaction price, and determination of revenue timing.

  • Gain a deep understanding of existing revenue and financial reporting business processes and play a lead role in designing and implementing future‑state processes, controls, and reporting frameworks as part of ERP transformation initiatives.

  • Partner with Revenue Operations and Tax teams on contract setup within finance systems to ensure that customer contracts are accounted for in accordance with the five‑step revenue recognition model and appropriate sales is tax treatment is applied.

  • Oversee the monthly close for revenue-related accounts, including reviewing revenue entries, deferred revenue activity, and key reconciliations

  • Oversee the internal financial reporting group, comprised of three employees, ensuring high‑quality management, executive, and Board‑level reporting

  • Provide oversight and coordination of external financial reporting activities, including quarterly bank reporting and annual audited financial documents.

  • Build and maintain reporting calendars, reporting standards, and review controls across internal and external reporting deliverables to support strong governance and timely execution

  • Support executive leadership with ad hoc financial analysis and presentation materials, including management and Board presentations

  • Based on accounting guidelines, develop and lead special projects aimed at improving operational efficiency by employing both new and existing financial systems and tools within the finance function.

  • Manage operational improvement initiatives to streamline financial operations, increase efficiency, and adapt to Sage’s evolving business needs

  • Provide leadership, coaching, and development to managers and team members to support a high‑performing reporting and accounting function.

  • Partner cross-functionally with Legal, Sales, Revenue Operations, Technology, and Finance collaborators to support reporting, revenue recognition and existing and future finance system configuration.

Can you be our new Associate Director, Finance?

This may include, but is not limited to, the following:

  • Minimum of 8+ years in progressive accounting or finance experience

  • Prior experience managing revenue accounting in an industry setting, including responsibility for ongoing revenue recognition judgments under ASC 606

  • BA or BS, in accounting or finance, desired, graduate degree in accounting a plus

  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) certification

  • Expert knowledge of U.S. GAAP and internal controls over financial reporting.

  • Substantial experience of leading at a manager level.

  • Excellent communication skills and confidence in the ability to navigate through challenging matters.

  • Exceptional problem-solving skills and highly agile when faced with new and unfamiliar matters.

  • Detail oriented, analytical, and ability to multitask in fast paced and dynamic environment.

  • Must be able to express accounting concepts clearly both orally and in writing in a way which can be understood by both specialists and non-specialists.

  • Well organized, excellent at planning ahead, able to adjust to changing priorities and manage a team to deliver on time and to a high professional standard.
