Epidemiologist (PhD) – Real-World Evidence & Epidemiology

Location: Canada (Remote)

Parexel is seeking a PhD-level Epidemiologist to join our Real-World Evidence (RWE) team. This is an excellent opportunity for a recent PhD graduate who is passionate about applying epidemiologic and quantitative methods to healthcare research.

We are particularly interested in candidates with biostatistics expertise and experience working with complex healthcare data. The ideal candidate will have a PhD in Epidemiology, Biostatistics, Public Health, Data Analytics, Health Outcomes Research, or a closely related field, and a strong interest in real-world evidence generation for the biopharmaceutical industry.

Industry experience is not required. We welcome candidates from academic, research, healthcare, or public health settings.


What You'll Do

Epidemiology & Real-World Evidence Research

  • Support the design, conduct, and reporting of epidemiologic and real-world evidence studies.
  • Develop scientific content for study protocols, reports, manuscripts, abstracts, posters, and presentations.
  • Conduct literature reviews and evidence assessments to inform study design and interpretation.
  • Contribute to the selection of appropriate study designs, data sources, and analytical approaches.
  • Review epidemiology-related deliverables to ensure scientific rigor and quality.
  • Collaborate with biostatisticians, medical writers, data scientists, and other cross-functional team members on research projects.

Scientific Collaboration

  • Communicate epidemiologic concepts and study findings to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Contribute to scientific discussions related to study methodology, real-world data, and evidence generation.
  • Support the development of innovative approaches to epidemiologic and observational research.

Business Development Support

  • Assist with background research and epidemiology sections of proposals and client opportunities.
  • Support development of responses to Requests for Proposals (RFPs) and Requests for Information (RFIs).

Thought Leadership

  • Contribute to publications, conference presentations, and posters.
  • Help advance Parexel's scientific reputation in epidemiology, real-world evidence, and data-driven research.


What We're Looking For

Required Qualifications

  • PhD required in:
    • Epidemiology
    • Biostatistics
    • Public Health
    • Data Analytics
    • Real-World Evidence/Outcomes Research
    • Health Services Research
    • Or a closely related quantitative discipline
  • Strong understanding of epidemiologic principles, observational research, and study design.
  • Experience conducting independent research and communicating scientific findings.
  • Fluent in English.
  • Ability to work effectively in a collaborative, fast-paced environment.
     

Preferred Qualifications

  • Strong preference for candidates with biostatistics training or experience.
  • Experience analyzing healthcare, public health, clinical, observational, registry, claims, or electronic health record data.
  • Knowledge of real-world evidence methodologies and non-interventional study designs.
  • Experience using statistical programming tools such as:
    • R
    • SAS
    • Python
    • Other analytical software
  • Experience with prospective or retrospective cohort studies, case-control studies, or other epidemiologic research methods.
     

Ideal Candidate Profile
 

You may be a:

  • Recent or upcoming PhD graduate in Epidemiology or Biostatistics; 0-3 years of experience.
  • PhD Epidemiologist with strong quantitative and analytical skills.
  • PhD Biostatistician interested in applying statistical methods to real-world health research.
  • Public health researcher with advanced training in data analytics and population health research.
