About the role

Join bp's North Sea Production & Operations team and play a key role in maximising production performance across our offshore assets. Working closely with operations, reservoir management and subsurface teams, you will help optimise well and field performance, support production delivery and see opportunities to improve value from our assets.

This is an individual contributor role with strong technical leadership responsibilities. You'll mentor colleagues, influence decisions across multiple disciplines and help shape production management activities across the asset.
 

What you'll do

  • Drive production optimisation and well performance improvement initiatives.

  • Support daily production management activities, including well surveillance, gas lift optimisation, water handling and production fixing.

  • Deliver and maintain production forecasts, integrating well performance, planned activities and new well opportunities.

  • Partner with operations, reservoir management and subsurface teams to maximise asset performance.

  • Lead production engineering input into well interventions and new well start-ups.

  • Identify emerging opportunities and risks and recommend actions to improve production delivery.

  • Coach and mentor less experienced engineers, sharing technical knowledge and best practices.

  • Support continuous improvement through data-driven decision making and optimisation activities.
     

What you'll bring
 

Essential

  • Degree in Engineering or a related discipline.

  • Significant experience in Petroleum Engineering, Production Engineering or a similar upstream technical role.

  • Experience optimising well and field performance within producing oil and gas assets.

  • Knowledge of production operations, reservoir management and production forecasting.

  • Experience working with artificial lift systems, waterflood operations and offshore production environments.

  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.

  • Ability to work effectively across multidisciplinary teams.
     

Preferred

  • MSc or PhD in Petroleum Engineering or a related discipline.

  • Experience working on North Sea assets.

  • Knowledge of flow assurance risks such as hydrates, scale and asphaltenes.

  • Experience supporting well interventions and new well start-ups.

  • Previous mentoring or coaching experience.
