Job description

About us

Coalition is the world's first Active Insurance provider designed to help prevent digital risk before it strikes. Founded in 2017, Coalition combines comprehensive insurance coverage and innovative cybersecurity tools to help businesses manage and mitigate potential cyberattacks.

Opportunities to make an impact with bold thinking are real—and happening daily at Coalition.

About the role

In this role, you will be responsible for driving profitable business from an assigned group of brokers and partnering closely with our Sales organization. You will underwrite and manage products across Coalition’s portfolio, including the enterprise segment, while serving as a trusted partner to brokers and customers. Along the way, you will help clients better understand how to protect their businesses, bringing together underwriting expertise, business acumen and a relationship-first approach.

This is a fully remote position that can be based anywhere in the Northeast.  Ideal locations are New York City, Boston, or Philadelphia.

Responsibilities

  • Underwrite new and renewal accounts within authority, including the enterprise segment (accounts with ~$1B+ in revenue), while maintaining alignment to underwriting guidelines, risk appetite, and carrier requirements.
  • Own senior and specialty broker relationships and play a visible role in client-facing activity for larger and more complex accounts.
  • Maintain disciplined underwriting files, documentation, and internal tool usage in line with Coalition’s workflows and governance standards.
  • Lead more granular discussions on coverage, manuscript endorsement requests, alternate forms, and other non-standard structures typical of larger-market underwriting.
  • Bring deeper technical underwriting judgment to more complex organizations, including risks involving larger networks, subsidiaries, and differentiated operating-company exposures.
  • Mentor and coach other underwriters, including support on files, broker communication, and deal strategy.
  • Partner with Sales, Product, Claims, CPU, and Coalition’s security team to improve underwriting decisions, market execution, and client outcomes.
  • Help shape local or regional underwriting practices, escalation standards, and process improvements for more sophisticated business.
  • Regular travel required for broker management, client meetings, education, and market-facing activity.

Skills and Qualifications

  • 5+ years of underwriting experience, including at least several years handling high-complex cyber and Technology E&O risks for large enterprise business (~$1B+ revenue); additional experience in underwriting miscellaneous professional liability is a plus.
  • Ability to analyze complex cyber and technology risks and understand their implications for underwriting, pricing, structure, and profitability.
  • Ability to combine underwriting expertise with broker and client needs to craft solutions and explain rationale clearly and confidently.
  • Strong presentation presence, negotiation skills, and comfort handling executive-facing broker and client conversations.
  • Meaningful experience mentoring others and contributing to underwriting standards, governance, or training.
