Position Overview

We are building the next generation of AI-powered design experiences for AutoCAD and Civil 3D. As an Applied AI Developer, you will sit at the intersection of emerging AI technology and real-world customer problems. In this role, you will identify promising advances in AI, rapidly evaluate and prototype new ideas and help transform the most impactful innovations into product experiences used by millions of architects, engineers, designers, and infrastructure professionals. This is a hands-on, product-facing role for someone who enjoys exploring new technologies, validating ideas through experimentation, and delivering AI-powered solutions that create meaningful customer value. You will work at the intersection of AI innovation, product development, and domain expertise, helping shape how AI transforms design and engineering workflows.

Responsibilities

  • Build AI-powered experiences that enhance customer workflows in AutoCAD and Civil 3D

  • Prototype, experiment, and validate new ideas quickly. Use modern AI tools and coding assistants to go from idea to working prototype in days, not months - validating concepts quickly and cheaply before we invest

  • Explore emerging AI/ML capabilities and convert them into concrete, customer-facing workflows within AutoCAD and Civil 3D

  • Stay on the edge. Continuously evaluate new AI models, tools, and techniques, and make pragmatic calls about what's ready to bring into our products

  • Develop solutions using LLMs, agents, RAG, and other modern AI/ML techniques

  • Partner across product, design, and engineering to bring innovations to market

  • Develop expertise in AEC design workflows and customer needs

  • Collaborate across global teams to share learnings and accelerate innovation

Minimum Qualifications

  • 3+ years of experience in Applied AI, Machine Learning, AI Product Engineering, ML Engineering, or Software Engineering with significant AI/ML responsibilities

  • Strong communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills - you work well with product, design, and engineering partners

  • Demonstrated ability to innovate with AI tools - using AI coding assistants and modern tooling to prototype and build quickly

  • A fast-prototyping mindset: comfortable with ambiguity, biased toward building something testable, and able to iterate based on feedback

  • Hands-on experience building AI-powered applications, including one or more of: LLM-powered applications, RAG architectures, or agent-based systems

  • Strong programming skills (e.g., Python, C#, C++, or JavaScript/TypeScript) and the ability to pick up new stacks quickly

  • Demonstrated track record of translating new technology into working, customer-facing product capabilities

  • Strong communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills - you work well with product, design, and engineering partners

  • Domain knowledge of Architecture, Engineering, or Construction (AEC) workflows

  • Familiarity with AutoCAD, Civil 3D, or other AEC/design software (as a user or developer via their APIs/SDKs)

  • Experience with AI evaluation, observability, benchmarking, and quality measurement

  • Contributions to open-source projects, technical publications, patents, research projects, or demonstrated AI experimentation
